Impressing your friends is important. Making them think you are psychic is one way to certainly capture their attention. A simple way to fulfill both of these steps is by performing the "Psychic Thumbprint Trick."
The first step of this trick, and perhaps the most important, is to find a deck of cards that has a specific design on the back of it. Before you get in front of your audience, it is imperative that you turn every card so that the picture or design on the back of the cards all face in the same direction.
Next, you need to get a volunteer from your audience to come up and randomly select any card from the deck that you are holding out in front of them. After they pull the card, the volunteer is free to show the card to the rest of those watching the trick.
The volunteer is then to be asked to hold their card face down and press their thumb hard onto the back of the card. By doing this, you give them reason to believe that you will later be able to find their card because of your psychic ability to see the invisible thumbprint.
After the print has been placed, it is your responsibility to spread the deck of cards out in front of them so the pulled card can be placed back into the deck. What the audience does not see, is that while the invisible thumbprint was being placed, you quickly turned the deck in the opposite direction.
After your volunteer has placed his or her card in with the rest of the deck, it is your time to talk to the audience. You must now explain to the audience that the way you will find their mystery card is by spotting the invisible thumbprint left behind by your volunteer.
The last step of this trick is the easiest part. Take the deck, which can now be facing in any direction, and scan over the backs of the cards, looking for the magic thumbprint. What your new fans don't realize is that the card with the thumbprint also happens to be the only card that is facing in a different direction than the rest of the deck. Abracadabra!
