The Crazy Eights card game consists of the standard 52 card pack, or an option of two such packs shuffled together if there are many players. You can play with 2 or more players, the object being to get rid of all the cards in your hand onto the discard pile by matching the numbers or suits of the previous card that was discarded.  The player with the most points at the end of the game is the winner. There are only 6 easy steps to playing your original Crazy Eight Crazy card game.

Step One - Decide the order of play by having each of your players cut the deck. The card that happens to be on the bottom of the cut is their card. Your player with the highest cut deals first. The dealer starts dealing to the left and around the table in a clockwise motion.

Step Two - The dealer deals the deck till each player has a total of five cards in each player’s hand. After everyone has been dealt their cards, the remaining cards are then placed towards the center of the table and the top card gets flipped over. You can either play a card of the same rank, ace on ace, three on three, or a card of the same suit like club on club. The only card you cannot play is eight, since that is the name of the game.

Step Three - The card from your hand is played, starting with the person to the left of the dealer. The card you are allowed to play is based on the top card of the discard pile. After seeing the top card you then decide which card you would rather play. You can either play the same rank like three on three, or the same suit, diamond on diamond.  Just make sure you don't use the eight cards.

Step Four - Draw a card from the deck when you cannot play from your hand when it is your turn. If you happen to draw a card with the same rank or suit, you are allowed to immediately play it, including an eight card. This eight card then acts like a wild card, you may then choose what suit you would like to play, but ithas to be based on the eight card.  If you are unable to play the card that was drawn you must then add it to the cards that are in your hand. Play moves to the next player at your table. The next player has to follow the suit or rank of the card you have placed on the pile. If that player is unable to play out of their hand, they must draw a card from the draw pile.

Step Five - The first player that ends up with no cards left in their is hand is the winner of the game. The other players tally up of all the remaining cards in their hands. Face cards are worth ten points, spot cards are worth five points and any eights cards are worth twenty-five points.

Step Six -  You then win the Crazy Eights game by having the least amount of points at the end of a set number of rounds, or when one of your players reaches a total score of two-hundred and fifty.
