Here are some steps on how to play the guitar:

2. Learn to read tabs. To be able to play the guitar, you must first learn how to read guitar tabs. The guitar tabs will guide you in knowing which fret to hold when plucking a particular string. A fret is the metal lines you can see on the fret board of the guitar. It divides the strings into different categories that produce different notes.
3. Master the scales. In order to master guitar scales, you must first know the basic chords of a guitar. These cords can be easily remembered using the word CAGED. After mastering the chords of a guitar, you must know their corresponding scales. This is more complex as it adds more notes to the basic chords. 4. Strumming. Mastering the chords and scales of a guitar is not enough to be able to play it. One important skill to know is how to strum. Strumming can be defined as a combination of upstrokes and down strokes of your hand on the guitar strings. 5. Learn some songs. Playing the guitar does not end with studying notes and memorizing scales. You must be able to apply them through actually playing a song. For beginners, try playing songs that make use of only the major chords. This is so that you won’t have a hard time completing it. After mastering simple songs proceed to a more complicated song until you can play almost anything.
