Your Prepaid Guide to PokerStars USA

Difficulty: Very Easy

As you probably know, the United States Congress has passed a bill which has made it illegal for credit companies to complete transactions related to online gambling; The Safe Port Act Of 2006. The common misconception is that online gambling is illegal. In fact it is 100% legal. The only problem you will face is how you will deposit money into your online poker account. Your regular credit card will not be accepted, but certain prepaid cards will.

I'll cut right to the chase. As US citizens we have two prepaid options at PokerStars. The first is the Ready Debit Prepaid Visa, and the other is the Visa All Access Gift Card. There are hundreds of other prepaid cards out there, but trust me -- I've tried most of them, and inquired about the rest. And they will not work on PokerStars. Don't believe me? Try another card; I assure you, you will be either giving it away at a Hannah Montana party, or using it to fuel-up your vehicle.

  1. Choose Your Card. The Ready Debit Visa Card is only available online, but is reloadable; as opposed to the Alll Access Visa Gift Card which is non-reloadable, but available only in retail stores. Find a retailer near you.
  2. Make Your Deposit. The minimum deposit across all PokerStars options is just $10 with the exceptions of Western Union ($100), Bank Draft ($100), and Money Gram Express Pay Cash Transfer ($50).

It's that simple. With prepaid cards you'll be able to deposit money into your poker account easily and securely. Your funds will be available immediately, and you won't have to worry about betting over your head, because what's on the card is what's on the card. Good Luck at the tables!
