How To Do Earth Day Activities

The possibilities are endless when coming up with activities for Earth Day. There are so many areas that could use the help of everyone. With all the new scientific research into pollution, global weather change, waste, and recycling, there are tons of opportunities for you to get involved and do something good for Mother Earth.

Plant a tree. Not only is this a rewarding activity that can be done alone, but this is something that you can do as a family. Whether you're a landowner or not, there is plenty of space that you could plant a tree. It doesn't have to be next to a forest. Plant one in a pot. Plant one in the yard. Plant one for a friend, a neighbor, or family.  I find that planting trees from seed are most rewarding. Knowing that your efforts produced a living, growing, life form that you can nurture as it reaches for the sky can be very exciting.

Recycling isn't just for people that have to. This is an activity that everyone should be doing on a daily basis. It takes no less effort to place your soda can in the appropriate bin or to put the paper in the right box. It's a small task that produces large rewards. Our world would not survive if we didn't reuse our resources.  And it certainly isn't going to do anyone any good to sit in a landfill somewhere.

Pick up the trash. Why would someone through their garbage out of their car window? What possible sense could this make? Would you throw it out in your front yard? Well, some people might I suppose, but most people wouldn't. But now it's up to us to pick up after those that can't pick up after themselves. You won't regret it.  The activity may not be a glorious adventure - wading through ditches with gloves and a bag, but the feeling you'll get when you're done is worth it. Knowing that you've done something good for others and for Earth is always worthwhile.

These are just a few ideas of activities that you can do. And not only on Earth Day, but everyday. If you're a parent then this is a great time and opportunity for you to show your children the good that you can do for others. Take advantage of this time with them. Do something as a family - as a team.

Make the most out of the life that was given to you and do something good to preserve this life for others.
