How To Make a Heart-Shaped Card for Valentine's Day

Without a doubt, Valentine's Day is one of the most romantic holidays, and a wonderful time to show the people in your life that you care about them. Nothing quite says "I love you" like a homemade card at Valentine's Day.

There are several ways you can begin your crafty Valentine's Day project. First, you'll need the base for the card. This can be a red piece of construction paper, a white piece of computer paper, or anything else you choose. The simplest way to create a heart shaped card is to fold the paper in half and cut out what looks like half of a heart. Then, simply unfold the part that you have cut out and your heart-shaped card will be ready to decorate.

An alternative to this method is to trace a heart shape on the piece of paper you wish to use and cut it out with crafting scissors. You can use scissors that cut special shapes or designs, and this will give the edging of your card a very nice, distinct look to it.

Decorating your card can be a lot of fun, and you have a variety of options. One of the simplest things to do is cover your card in stickers that are also heart-shaped. Most stores have a craft section that offers a variety of different Valentine's Day stickers.

Another nice way to present your heart-shaped card is to cut out a smaller heart in a different color and use a glue-stick to paste it onto the larger heart. Then, you can simply decorate the smaller heart. A variation of this is to use some pink or red fabric in lieu of the second piece of paper.

Lace ribbon, available in many fabric stores or craft supply stores, also makes a nice addition to a Valentine's Day card. Simply turn your card over and glue the lace around the edges. When you flip the card back to the front side, the edging will be lovely and add a little bit of snazzy to an already special card.

When you are ready to write a greeting on your card, you can use a regular pen or pencil, but the writing will be more distinct and attractive if you use a permanent marker or a craft pen. You can write a poem, a sweet message, or simply "I love you."

If you want to mail your card, you can purchase larger envelopes at craft stores that are specially designed to be used to craft projects. You can even decorate the outside of the envelope to match the card that you made.

With these Valentine's Day ideas, your heart-shaped card is sure to be a special gift for the special someone in your life.
