Most everyone has made at least one New Year's resolution at one point in their life, and if you haven't, you'll probably be considered strange. It seems every year that person after person resolves to eat healthier, get more in shape, pay off their debts, or save enough money for a family vacation. But, have you ever taken the time to make funny New Year's resolutions that have absolutely nothing to do with your health and wealth? What are some other things you could resolve to do? Yes, saying you'll be kinder to family members this year or you'll lose twenty pounds or you'll pay of that last student loan are great resolutions. But make some other resolutions that will make you (and others) laugh.

What are things that might be funny to you? Something out of this world and ridiculous to resolve? Here's how to make funny New Year's resolutions.

  • How about a New Year's resolution that you will take a picture of every meal you eat for the next year. Now, that would be interesting, fun, and strangely unusual.
  • Or how about, "I resolve to call my own cell phone every day and leave a message."
  • You could resolve to eat celery for breakfast one day per week or dance in front of the mall fountain once a month.
  • You might want to take things more seriously and resolve to learn how to speak in a British accent or how to dance like Michael Jackson.
  • You could resolve to learn the numbers one through ten in twenty different languages.
  • What about making a New Year's resolution to learn how to juggle, stuff ten marshmallows in your mouth at one time, or walk on your hands down the length of the hallway?
  • Resolve to buy a pair of crazy pajama pants, say hello to a stranger every day, or spray a can of whipped cream in your mouth every Saturday.
  • You could resolve to make up a new language to use with your family or your resolution could be to keep a notebook of a funny thing you accomplish every day.

Whatever you do, the point is merely to have fun. Yes, be serious with some resolutions, but remember that all of life doesn't have to be about the practicals and responsibilities. It is okay to have fun. Take the time to create a list of funny New Year’s resolutions, and you never know. They just might become the best thing you'll do all year!
