Cleaning the house is a never ending chore. And it can take too much of your time. If there is company coming and you need to prepare the food for your guests, you need all the time to prepare for that. Cleaning the house plus preparing for the party can take a toll on you. The tips below will help you to keep your house clean daily and maintain that cleanliness without worry even if unexpected guests arrive.
- Clean as you go is a good motto to follow, particularly for a busy person like you. Instead of waiting for our regular house cleaning schedule to clean parts of the house, why not clean while you are working and right after you are done working.
- The kitchen is one of the most used parts of the house and you spend almost three quarters of your time in it. Clean all the utensils that you have used instead of dumping them in the sink and wait for available time to clean them. Do not leave dishes in the sink. Wash them right after you have used them or load them in the dishwasher. Clean and sanitize your sink after use and wipe it dry. Wipe the counters and the shelves, also the stove top as well as the refrigerator. Making this a habit will prevent the build up of dirt and grime from the grease and smoke that emanate from cooking. Vacuum or sweep the kitchen floor daily.
- Make it easier for you to defrost the refrigerator by doing it regularly. Unplug the refrigerator at night to facilitate the thawing of the ice that had lined the freezer, while still maintaining the right temperature so that stored food will not be spoiled. Do the main cleaning in the morning, removing all the frozen food and everything that has been stored in the refrigerator. This is also your chance to throw away items that have been stuck behind the other food items. Wipe the inside of the freezer and the grills and shelves and the rest of the refrigerator dry before putting the food back. When you defrost regularly, you save on energy and time too, as the ice will be thinner and easier to remove and the refrigerator will function better in cooling the food.
- The bathroom is another part of the house that needs constant attention. Make sure that you clean it daily so that you will spend less time in keeping it clean. Pre-moistened wipes that you have used can still be used to wipe the sink, the toilet seat and the toilet bowl rim with it before you throw them. Use the toilet brush and a squeeze of toilet bowl cleaner to clean the bowl daily. Cleaning daily will prevent water stain from forming. Use a squeegee to clean the shower door and spray the shower curtain and liner with a shower mist after each use. This will eliminate the water spots and soap residue from staining the curtains that can take a long time to remove. This routine will only take about two minutes of your time daily.
- Make up your bed as soon as you get up or after you have taken your shower. Making your bed tidy will inspire you to keep the rest of the bedroom tidy as well. Fold and/or hang clothes so that you restore order inside your room. A clean room and a made up bed that you spend around six minutes to clean is a welcome sight when you enter your bedroom after a hard day at the office.
- Take a look at the family and straighten the cushions on the sofa and fold the throws. Use a handheld vacuum to remove crumbs and dust on the rug. Carry a soft dry cloth with you and use this to wipe the coffee table and cabinets as you go around the family room, straightening books and magazines the putting them back on the shelves or magazine rack.
Spending a few minutes daily to clean and pick up will help you maintain a generally clean room. This habit is of great help when you are rushing and have to attend to other chores, as you do not have to worry about your house being clean and presentable. At the most you will only be spending around twenty minutes a day to keep your house clean.
