How To Build a Butler's Pantry

A butler’s pantry is a walk in pantry that is historically used by butlers and other servants when preparing food, storing food, and cleaning up after dinner.  Butler’s pantries in modern households are normally smaller than before, but still contain many of the same elements as before, including being able to walk in and out of the pantry.  Butler’s pantries are an excellent way for you to store food and dishes, while adding a unique attribute to your home.  This article will give you the steps needed in how to build a butler’s pantry.
 
The first step in how to build a butler’s pantry is finding a location where to put the butler’s pantry.  To make it effective and useful, a butler’s pantry must be located within or adjacent to the kitchen.  If you have room for a small walk in butler’s pantry within you own kitchen that would be best.  Keep in mind that you will want your pantry to be at least 12 square feet, and that you will lose some more space since drywall will need to be put up.
 
The next step in how to build a butler’s pantry is to design it to meet your needs.  The butler’s pantry will need to be at least 3 feet by four feet to fit all of your dry storage.  If you want to be able to store all of your dishes, or even have a sink within the butler’s pantry, then you will need much more space.


 
After designing your new butler’s pantry, the next step in how to build a butler’s pantry is to build the frame of the pantry.  This will require purchasing drywall, a lot of wood and a door.  This part of the process is quite difficult, and additional contracting help may be needed.  If your butler’s pantry is placed in the corner of your kitchen, you will only need to build one new wall and install a door.
