Microwaves make it easy to cook all sorts of foods and heat things up quickly and easily. But they are also an easy place for messes to happen. Sometimes there is food splattering, and occasionally even explosions. Even when there isn't splattering or explosions, there are dribbles and spills. Cleaning your microwave doesn't have to be hard work though. Simply follow these steps for a microwave that is sparkling clean and smells great.
Step 1:

Mix your cleaning solution. Mix 1 cup water with 1/4 cup of lemon juice or the juice from one fresh lemon in a microwave-safe dish or bowl.

Step 2:

Microwave the solution. Place the lemon water in the microwave and turn the microwave on for five minutes. This will steam the microwave and help loosen any food, spots, or spills that are in your microwave.

Step 3:

Remove tray and turn table and wash them. You can wash the try and turn table parts with your other dishes. If need be, scrub clean with a brush, scrub, rag, or sponge.

Step 4:

Wipe the microwave clean with a soft damp rag. The food should be softened from the lemon juice and water and should wipe out easily enough. If need be, gently scrub with the soft rag. Never scrape the inside of the microwave or use something rough such as a steel wool pad or scrub pad. These can damage the surface of the microwave.

Step 5:

Repeat. If you are having trouble getting food off the microwave, then repeat with the lemon and water for another five minutes and wipe clean.

Step 6:

Finish by wiping the outside of the microwave. Wipe down the outside using your cloth or paper towel.

A clean microwave is always a good thing, plus it will smell great and have a great look.
