How To Clean Artificial Flowers

Having artificial flowers at home serves a number of practical purposes. For one, you get to use them for a longer time. Also, they really look great when kept unsoiled. So, you just have to watch out when they begin to gather dust. Or, if you are smoking inside your house, they may catch the smoke build-up. Anyway, here are some tips on how you can clean your artificial flowers and make them look lively and lovely again:

  • Take a digital snapshot of your artificial flowers. You can do this if you want to maintain the original arrangement. Sometimes, you may find the arrangement pleasing. So, the digital photo is going to serve as your guide when you attempt to set up the artificial flowers again.
  • Gather them. Are they in a foam base?  If yes, then, simply hold them from the base. Grasp on to the plastic stems firmly. After that, start pulling them out. Do it gently to avoid any damage to the arrangement. If they are just placed in a vase, draw them out by clutching around the plastic stems.
  • Begin removing or separating the plastic stems from the flower heads. Again, be cautious. Some materials may readily be ruined. Strategize.
  • Wash them. Prepare your sink or your tub. Or, you can bring out your basin. Use the size that can hold all the artificial flowers that you wish to clean. Then, pour some lukewarm water into your sink, tub, or basin. After that, dispense between two and three drops of shampoo into the water. Whoosh the water. Do it lightly. You goal is to thoroughly mix the shampoo into the water. But don’t make it too sudsy.
  • Get some of the plastic stems, maybe between three or five pieces at a time. When the plastic stems are bushy, then, you may just get a piece or two. Place them into the water. Leave them there for about 15 minutes. Allow the dirt and dust to become loose.
  • After 15 minutes, grab one plastic stem. Use your hand and swish it around the water. Do it softly. Inspect the crevices. See if you are able to wash off the dirty residues. Repeat the swishing until you are convinced that the plastic stem has been cleaned. Then, take the next plastic stem and redo the washing steps until you have cleaned everything. Afterwards, wash the flower heads.
  • Rinse them. After washing all the plastic stems, replace the water. Again, fill your sink, tub, or basin with lukewarm water. Rinse the plastic stems and the flower heads, one after the other. Simply swish each one in the water to complete the rinsing process. You may replace the water whenever necessary, or you may add more as you proceed.
  • Dry them. Shake the plastic stems and the flower heads. Dry them with a towel. After that, put them together again and place them into a large pot. Reshape the flowers and the leaves.

Get your digital photo and recreate the arrangement. Your artificial flowers should look fresh and new – again.
