To clean crystal without leaving behind any fog, film or lint, you need the right crystal cleaners, most of which are available in your home.

Crystal products are beautiful things to have in any home, but crystal does need to be kept clean in order to keep them looking their best. Crystal stemware and other crystal products have a tendency to get cloudy or dusty, keeping the crystal from having its trademark sparkle.

Step 1:

Clean out your sink and fill it with warm water. Place a kitchen towel at the bottom of the sink. This will cushion your crystal stemware and other crystal items in case one should slip and hit the bottom.

Step 2:

Put a little bit of dish soap in the water and a little white vinegar. The dish soap will wash away any dirt, oil and spotting and the vinegar will help to give your crystal back its shine.

Step 3:

If your crystal products have a thick film on them that is hard to get off, use lemon juice to cut through that fog. Rub lemon juice all over the crystal products and then wash them in the solution in the sink. Letting the crystal soak in white vinegar for an hour before washing the crystal products can also cut through a foggy surface on crystal.

Step 4:

Dry your crystal products with a lint-free cloth that won't leave behind a layer of lint. These cloths are soft and will not scratch your crystal stemware, crystal bowls and other beautiful household items.

If you often have cloudy or foggy crystal stemware, you may have a hard water problem that is leaving mineral deposits on your dishes. A household water softener can make it easier to wash your dishes and crystal without leaving behind a hard water film.
