How To Clean Windows on Upper Floors

Cleaning upper floor windows is a task that should be done once or twice a year at least. Most people find it a lot of fun getting into their work clothes and doing their general cleaning at home. For a room to look bright and clean, windows must also be given a good cleaning up job to allow sunshine to penetrate the area. Upper floor windows are normally located in bedrooms and when they are sparkling clean, the brightness that filters through the glass can surely cheer up any room. Cleaning these windows require that you pay special attention to both the interior and exterior sides of the window. Here are some ways to make the job easier for you:

  • You will basically need lots of newspapers. These are very effective tools for cleaning windows as they do not leave streak marks. Fill up a spray bottle with warm water and vinegar mixed together in equal parts. Prepare your vacuum cleaner to use as your first tool in cleaning.
  • Place attachment on your vacuum cleaner. Start off by vacuuming dust, cobwebs or other dried up particles attached to your window. Make sure that you are also able to remove dirt from corners of the window that are harder to reach. Cotton swabs can do the job for you.
  • When cleaning the inside areas of your upper floor windows, spread sheets of newspaper around the area to keep your floors free from drips or other liquid messes. Spray your glass windows with your vinegar and water solution.  Crumple your newspapers and start wiping your windows dry. As soon as your newspaper wads are beginning to shred, use a new crumpled batch to continue wiping until you have completely dried the area. The glass should be free from any streaky marks and come off looking sparkly clean.
  • Cleaning outdoor windows on upper floors require extra caution on your part. You will need a ladder to be able to reach the windows easily. Apply the same methods as in your interior upper floor windows. Your water and vinegar solution should be sprayed on your windows and crumpled newspapers used to wipe the windows dry.
  • Another option for cleaning up your windows from the outside, should you decide against a ladder would be to use your garden hose for spraying out from the window panes. Make a solution of ammonia and water that you pour into your extra hose attachment and use this as your cleaning agent spraying your windows.
  • If you have a pressure washer in your household, this can be very effective for cleaning the exterior of your upper windows. This makes the task much easier to accomplish.
  • If cleaning up your windows your exterior upper windows poses a problem for you, you can easily avail of a professional’s services to do the job for you.

Having clean windows inside and out does a lot in improving the appearance of a     home. Somehow, it will appear much brighter from both sides. Have a fun time cleaning up!
