You will need to decide where you want to place your travertine flooring.  Will you want it in your kitchen?  Perhaps your bathroom?  Or maybe you will be experimental and place it in one of your bedrooms.  Now that you have decided where to place your travertine tile you will remove your old tiles or your old carpet.  Make sure that you have an even solid surface.  Cleaning the flooring after you’ve removed the old tile is a good thing to do, as it will ensure that later you won’t have any rough spots in the new tile.

Now that you have your old tile removed and the floor is spotless of any debris, arrange your new travertine tile on the floor. Do this without putting any glue down; this will make sure that your tile fits perfectly. Leave a little room between the tiles for your grout.  Once you’ve made sure that your tile is laid down the way that you want it, remove a bit of the tile remembering exactly where it goes, and then lay down a small bit of glue.  Once you have the glue down, put your tiles down carefully on the glue and make sure they are even and level as well as a small space left for your grout.

Once you have your entire tile laid down and glued into place, making sure to remember to lay it evenly and make sure that it is firmly in place, you will mix your grout.  Once you’ve got your grout out use a trowel and push the grout into the small spaces between your travertine tiles as well as into the corners.  Once you have the grout in place and all looks well, use a damp towel and wipe away any extra grout around the tiles as well as the corners.  Once your floor is set, apply a coat of sealant to make sure that your travertine floor tile is now stain resistant and will be protected against most wear and tear.

Now that you have laid your sealant, and your floor has been set for a while, work on cleaning your new travertine tile.  Your new tile has been proven to stain easily if anything is left on it for long so make sure you mop up any spills as soon as possible.  Using a light wax on your travertine tile is okay to do, just make sure that the coat of wax is placed on evenly and you don’t leave spots set for too long.  Another easy thing to do with your new tile, is make sure that you mop it at least once or twice a week to ensure its prolonged use.
