When you buy a home or rent a home you want to make it your own and make it truly incredible. One of the best ways is to add your own personal touch to both the indoors and the outdoors. The following project will help bring a great deal of style to any outdoor area.

To have a truly incredible home, you want very personal accents, and one of the most interesting accents is the container water garden. This is a very simple project that will add a great deal of focus to your patio or deck. This is a portable garden that does not cost much to maintain and gives your home an incredibly stylish and personal touch.

  1. Decide where you want to have your container water garden. This will help you choose the type and size of the container you want.
  2. Then look for your container, it just has to be water tight, but anything will work. You can use a fiberglass container, a ceramic jar, resin and just about anything. This is where you can get a little creative. Get ideas from magazines or online. Use your sense of style and make sure that it fits in with the rest of the decor.
  3. Head down to your local nursery and choose some great water plants. The ones you select will depend on the size of your water tank.
  4. Combine both tall and short plants, and those that cascade down.
  5. Don't fill the container to the brim with plants, as you need to anticipate the growth of the plants.
  6. Before you place your plants be sure to check your container for any water leaks. You can do this by filling it with water and then leaving it for a day or two on a sidewalk or driveway (so you can see the leak). Check the container after that and make sure you have no leaks. Then you can put it in the location you want.
  7. Fill it two thirds up, and then place you plants in an attractive manner.
  8. Read the water depth recommendation for each plant you have chosen, and then use bricks and stones to position the plants at the right depth.
  9. If you want a fountain, then install the pump and finish adding the water that is needed.

You should know that stagnant water tends to attract mosquitoes, so it is probably best to install some type of fountain. Plus a fountain will make the water tank even more beautiful, especially as those water plants grow.
