Hummingbird nectar provides you with an easy way to attract those small yet speedy birds to your house. Once you've seen their bright colors, fluttering wings, and curious look, you will want to keep them coming back. So here is a simple nectar recipe to attract or maintain a constant population or hummingbirds around your house.
Step 1:

Gather the ingredients. In order to make hummingbird nectar, you will need the following two ingredients:

  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 3 cups of water
Step 2:

Combine the ingredients. Simply mix the sugar and water together, and stir them until the sugar has completely dissolved into the water so that you cannot see very much left on the bottom.

Step 3:

Set it outside. A hummingbird feeder should be brightly colored and hung a good distance away from other bird feeders. Hummingbirds get scared quite easily, so they will be more likely to visit a feeder that is by itself. Pour your homemade nectar into the feeder, and consider getting an ant-guard or else those tiny pests will overrun the feeder and keep the hummingbirds away.

This extremely easy recipe will result in hours of enjoyment for both you and the hummingbirds. If you have any extra nectar, simply stick it in the refrigerator and pull it out for future use. However, make sure to label it or else someone will be in for a very sweet surprise!
