For many of us, money is tight these days. Yet we continue to spend lots of money on kitchen cleaners of many different types. There is an all-purpose cleaner that we clean the counters with as well as the front of the cabinets. There is a cleaner we use for killing bacteria. Often we have one for cleaning the stove and maybe even the oven. For many of us, it doesn't even stop there and if we open the place where we store our kitchen cleaners, we find a cluttered space full of expensive products. However, it doesn't have to be that way. We can have a clean kitchen with a few all-natural products and an anti-bacterial dish soap that will only cost a few dollars.
Step 1:

Gather you cleaner kitchen arsenal. Instead of expensive products and a million and one items to keep your kitchen clean, you can use a wide range of products that are inexpensive and clean your kitchen just as well (if not better). You will need.

  • Anti-bacterial dish soap. This will be the only "real" cleaner you will need for a great kitchen. It will kill the bacteria that many raw food products leave behind and can be used for washing dishes as well.
  • Vinegar. Distilled white vinegar is cheap and one of the best cleaners available.
  • Lemon juice. Lemon juice also does a good job cleaning and will leave your kitchen smelling great!
  • Baking soda. Another really inexpensive product that will also be great in cleaning various parts of your kitchen.
  • Aluminum foil. This isn't really a cleaner, but it can save you a lot of work in the kitchen.
Step 2:

Wash your own dishes. Dishwashers are often used in houses these days, but they cost a lot of money to run. You are paying for the water, to heat it, to run the dishwasher, and for the special detergents. Fill a sink or a tub with hot water and use plain anti-bacterial dish soap for clean dishes. A rag will suffice. If you have pans that need scouring, then get a green or red scour pad for tough messes.

Step 3:

Line your burner drip pans and oven with aluminum foil. Instead of cleaning the oven often with harsh chemicals and instead of spending hours scrubbing drip pans, line them with aluminum foil. It is inexpensive and easy to use and will save you time and money.

Step 4:

Make your own multi-purpose cleaner. Mix 1/2 cup vinegar with 1 1/2 cup water in a 16-ounce spray bottle and you have your own very inexpensive multi-purpose cleaner. You can use that on the stove, the counter, the sink, and even in the refrigerator.

Step 5:

Scrub difficult messes. Sometimes you will come across difficult messes that need just a bit more. For these, add a dab of baking soda and use it to help you scrub the mess up.

Step 6:

Clean up after your meats. Everyone knows that meats leave a lot of bacteria behind and you have a lot of cleaners designed specifically for cleaning counters, cutting boards, and other surfaces after raw meat has touched them. Well you certainly don't have to go that far. If you have a big mess, then add a dab of your anti-bacterial soap to your rag and use that for cleaning up the mess. It will kill bacteria and you can clean your counters or other surfaces just as clean for a very small fraction of the price.

Step 7:

Mop your floors. Add 1 cup of baking soda to your hot mop water. Then add 1 cup of lemon juice for a great fresh scent throughout the kitchen. Mop the floor using a rag on your hands and knees for a cleaner floor or with an inexpensive mop for more convenience

*Avoid convenience products such as the Swiffer mop, which cost a lot of money especially when getting pads and cleaners for it.

Step 8:

A little bit fresher. If you are one that likes your kitchen to smell fresher when it is all said and done, then add lemon juice to a rag or sponge and wipe everything down with it. It will leave your kitchen smelling fresh and sparkling clean.

A clean kitchen doesn't have to cost a fortune. It can look and smell clean with no dangerous chemicals and without a lot of hard work. Just take it one day at a time and use your inexpensive products for thorough kitchen cleaning.
