How To Create a Bridal Shower Centerpiece

A wedding is always a beautiful blessing, but also it cannot be denied that it can get very expensive and taxing as well. One of the ways to save on wedding expenses is to make your own design pieces, especially for the bridal shower. It would be better to spend the money on the wedding itself than on the bridal shower because it is the big event.

If you are thinking of throwing someone a bridal shower, you can opt to make your own centerpiece. Some might say that it is not necessary to have that, but a bridal shower centerpiece helps set the mood, tone, and stage for the party. It also softens the setting and adds color to any room. If you want to make your own bridal shower centerpiece, just follow these simple steps.

  • Decide and design. A bridal shower piece can be anything. It could be made of candles, or flower arrangement, balloons, or a combination of the three. It can be one big arrangement or made up of smaller pieces. Ideally, there should be a centerpiece on each table, or if it’s a cozy bridal shower one big centerpiece will do. Decide on what look you like, and make a design.
  • List and prepare. From the design, you will have a good idea of the materials you need and what you have and what you need to buy. It does not have to be expensive – you just have to make it work.
  • Get crafty and creative. A simple bridal shower piece can include flowers, a bowl or a vase, some silver marbles or faux pearls. You can add white lace on the table before you put the bowl. Of course it is not that easy – but almost. You have to take into consideration what flowers to get, and how to arrange them.

A rule of thumb on arranging flowers is to arrange them like a bouquet. Or you can just get three stemmed flowers of varying sizes, and arrange them by height. Add stems of leaves. For more ideas, refer to ikebana books or sites.

You can also opt to use fresh flowers, especially if you are holding the bridal shower outdoors, like in a garden or rooftop. Get small potted flowers – there are miniature roses that would look perfect for a day or night set up.

  • Practice your practical streak. Bridal shower centerpieces do not always have to be all flowers. You can also make one that the bride can use afterwards – like a towel cake. A towel cake is simple to make – you just roll pieces of towels to make the cake, and you can make 2 or 3 tiers. Add bath products, lotions, shampoo and conditioner, perfume, scented candles, and other pampering items. The bride will surely love the thought behind (or within!) the special cake.

Whatever you decide to make for the bridal shower centerpiece, also consider the bride’s character and what she might appreciate. Is she stressed and would love to see some beauty and softness? Or is she the practical kind? Make something that pleases you, and chances are it will please her too.
