Don’t you hate it when you grab a gold necklace from the jewelry box and find that the piece you need has somewhat intertwined and interlaced with the other necklaces in the box? If you have, then you should already know that untying the knot is something that Hercules may find challenging. In truth, these circumstances can leave any woman or man quite frustrated.
Fortunately, it does not have to be that way. There is a way for you to effectively store your necklaces properly so that you can get what you need to wear without any hassle. Here are some ideas to correctly organize your necklaces, be it made of precious metals or beads.
- Hang it up. One way to organize your necklace collection so that it does not mix together and become knotted would be to hang each necklace on hooks. This is actually a very innovative and quite practical idea. All you will need to do is go down to your home supply or hardware supply store and purchase hooks that can be installed by the adhesive it has on the back. These are quite inexpensive and you can get them as a set or individually. Base how many hooks you need by the number of necklaces you have.
Once you have the hooks, stick it to the wall or mirror (it should take 15 minutes for the adhesive to adhere properly). Make sure that the hooks are at least an inch or two apart from each other. Once the hooks have been installed, you can now hang each of your necklaces on the hooks provided. This way, you won’t have to worry about knots and can find the necklace you want to wear easily without having to open a jewelry box or case.
- Compartmentalize. If you are not keen on hanging hooks, then consider this option. Visit your local crafts supply store and purchase a craft bin composed of multiple compartments that slide out just like drawers. Place this bin on your dresser and start placing the necklaces in the small drawers. One necklace per compartment or drawer is the way to go.
- Bag it. Another storage option for your necklaces would be to bag each necklace in a Ziploc bag. This is a great option that you can even use for your other jewelry such as rings, earrings, and bracelets. Place each necklace or piece inside the Ziploc bag and seal. The Ziploc bag is airtight so, you can rest assured that moisture and other elements will not deteriorate your jewelry.
Once you are done bagging each necklace, you can now place the bagged
pieces inside the jewelry box. If you have one existing then you can
use that one. If not, then consider purchase an inexpensive and simple
lunch box, the metal type with a lock. Place the bags inside and
voila! You are done.
Bear in mind that these are only three practical suggestions.
Obviously, if you have the money, you can purchase specialized jewelry
boxes with ornate designs complete with compartments or you can even
have jewelry containers custom-made.
