How To Reinstall Soundmax Back to Windows XP

One of the many things that people take for granted in their computer is the sound. Most people think that it is not essential but once the computer stops making any sound, people get frantic.

Having sounds or being able to record audio in your computer is possible through the sound card.  The sound card allows the input and the output of audio signals to flow in and out of the computer. Without this, you will not be able to hear any sounds from your music player, games, videos, presentation and other things.

One kind of sound card is the Soundmax and this is often found in laptops and computers. One of the most common issues that people have with this is that it is not that compatible with Windows XP, causing the computer to crash when your laptop is using Soundmax and you upgrade to Windows XP.

If you have recently experience this, you can remedy this by reinstalling your Soundmax. Here are a few steps you need to follow to successfully reinstall Soundmax.

  • Uninstall Soundmax. When you upgrade your operating system to Windows XP, it sometimes installs Soundmax partially or it doesn’t install it at all. If it installed Soundmax partially, you first need to uninstall it from your computer. Click on start in your desktop taskbar then open your control panel. Search for add/remove programs then look for Soundmax. Right click on Soundmax and click uninstall. Once it is done, close the control panel window and restart your computer.
  • Download Soundmax driver. If you still have your original CDs for the computer then you can skip this step. If you don’t have the driver CD, you can easily download Soundmax over the internet. The best place to download this is in your computer manufacturer’s website or in your motherboard manufacturer’s website. You can easily download the Soundmax driver there.
  • Run and install the installation set-up. Once the download is complete, a new window will pop up. This is the installation set-up wizard. You may need to extract or unzip the files first before you can run the installation. Once you’re done unzipping the files, click on run to start the installation process. The installation may take a while so you have to be patient for it to finish. Make sure you close all running programs and avoid opening any programs while you are installing Soundmax.
  • Restart your computer. After the installation process has been completed, click finish to close the window. Restart your computer to finalize the installation and after restarting, check the sounds in your computer if it is working. When you hear sounds, it means you have successfully installed your Soundmax. In case you’re computer is still crashing it is best to get it checked as the computer crash may be caused by something else.
