How To Simplify your Skin Care after Age 40

A person’s skin does not remain the same throughout existence. During different stages of your life, you will experience different scenarios in which your skin will change condition, texture, and type. With those changes, you try to adapt and treat your skin accordingly. The same goes for skincare after the age of 40. Your skin changes as you grow older, and with that you need to do simpler things in order to take better care of your face. Below are some tips and tricks you can use in order to simplify your skin care regimen after turning 40.

  • Inspect your skin. Since your skin may have changed as you have been aging, examine your face closely in front of a mirror. Inspect if your skin has changed in any way at all. See if your skin has suddenly become really dry, as this is normal for people that have passed the 40 mark. On the other hand, maybe your skin has become oily as well. With oily skin, zits and breakouts come to play. Take note of every change that has happened in order to have a better understanding of the changes that are happening to your skin.
  • Watch out for dryness. As you age, the probability of having very dry skin increases. When that happens, you have to take extra measures in order to protect it. The first thing you should do is to limit your time exposed to the sun. Exposing your skin to the sun for extended amounts of time will dry out your skin as well as expose you to the risks of melanoma or skin cancer. If you cannot avoid the sun, always apply sunblock or sunscreen before you go outside.  Furthermore, always remember to constantly moisturize your skin.  Pick a moisturizing cream or lotion that works well with your skin.
  • Use simple products. Another thing you should avoid is buying and using complex products for your skin. While some may help, most of these products contain chemicals and ingredients that can be harmful for your skin. Keep it simple and only buy products that you are used to or items that are simple in nature. As much as possible, only buy products that are natural or have organic ingredients. The less chemicals a product has, the more you can be sure that it is safe for you. You should also invest in products that you can use to focus on other areas of your face such as your lips and eyes. A good lip moisturizer can help you avoid having dry lips and a night cream can aid in removing those baggy eyes.

A great tried and tested way to take care of your skin is to drink water frequently throughout the day. Water not only keeps you hydrated, but it also provides much needed moisture to the skin that will prevent dryness and other skin ailments.

Finally, even as you age, the time you use to put products on your face may take up all your free minutes. By using simple products that can be easily applied, you save more time allowing you to do other things that seem more important.
