Electric toothbrushes are automatic toothbrushes that move in a certain motion that is more effective for brushing the teeth. They are powered by an internal or disposable battery and can be used over and over for a long period of time. According to studies, an electric toothbrush is more effective in removing plaque and can lessen the risk of gum disease, and that is why more people are now switching to electric toothbrushes.

Using an electric toothbrush is easy. The process is very similar to using a regular toothbrush but requires less effort and energy. Here is a simple guide to teach you how to use an electric toothbrush.

  • Charge your toothbrush. Before using your electric toothbrush, you first have to charge it for it to work. If your toothbrush operates on battery, check if the battery has enough power for the toothbrush to operate.
  • Put some toothpaste on your toothbrush. Apply enough toothpaste on the head of the toothbrush. Even if the head of an electric toothbrush is smaller compared to a regular toothbrush, you should still use the same amount. A pea-shape amount is good enough to brush your whole teeth.
  • Place the toothbrush inside your mouth then turn it on. Before switching the electric toothbrush on, it should be inside your mouth first. This will prevent the toothpaste from whirling, splattering or falling off of the toothbrush
  • Brush all your teeth. It is best to start at the back of your teeth then slowly working your way to the front. There is no need to scrub your teeth like you usually do with a regular toothbrush since the movement of the electric toothbrush would do it for you. Another thing, only press the toothbrush lightly on your teeth and gums to prevent damaging the enamel or bleeding gums.
  • Control the brush. An electric toothbrush pretty much does all the work for you. All you need to do is to guide and control it inside your mouth to be able to brush your teeth thoroughly. Learn how to properly control the toothbrush inside your mouth to avoid any damage on your teeth or gums.
  • Turn the toothbrush off. When you are done brushing your teeth, switch the toothbrush off. Rinse the toothbrush head thoroughly and recharge the toothbrush for your next use. Remove it once it is fully charge to avoid overcharging the toothbrush. This will prevent it from being damaged and will help in saving on electricity.

When you are not using the toothbrush’s charger, store it in a dry place to avoid damaging the charger and to avoid getting electrocuted. It is difficult to find a replacement charger for electric toothbrushes that is why you need to take care of it properly.

Using an electric toothbrush for brushing your teeth can be fun and healthy as long as you know how to do it properly. Keep your teeth healthy and strong by using an electric toothbrush correctly.
