How to use Digg to Get the Latest Content

Learn how you can use Digg to get the latest content about a particular subject. Digg has custom RSS feeds based on search. This means if you want to know anytime something is added to Digg about Nintendo Wii you can build a custom RSS feed based on the search "Nintendo Wii". With the custom RSS feed you can add it to your favorite news aggregator.

Hey guys, this is Anthony Montalbano with InternetRiot.com and today I am going to show you how you use Digg with the latest news and content about specific subject delivered to you automatically. So here is a scenario. Say you want to keep up the day with Nintendo Wii News, games and search but you don't have the time to do research browsing thousands of possible websites for quality news. So with Digg, you don't have to do that. You can create custom RSS feeds about particular subject and then add them to your favorite RSS Reader. That way, all you have to do is read your RSS feed each day and Digg will take care of the rest delivering the quality news about Nintendo Wii. So here is how we do this. Let's go to digg.com. Now, in the upper right hand corner, you have the Digg Search. Let's search for Nintendo Wii. And as you expect, Digg would return a bunch of content about Nintendo Wii. So let's customize the search just a little bit. Right here you can see that there is Title and Description, Front Page stories and sort by best match first. What we're going to want to do here is do sort by newest first. Now, we're going to leave Front Page Stories because Front Page Stories is just telling me that there is -- that's the quality content. That's the stuff that you want to be read. So we're going to leave this here and then we're going to click on Search again. Okay, so here we are. This is all the stuff on Digg, the greatest content, the newest content. Now, this is the cool part. If you see over here on the right-hand corner, it's really small and tiny, this little RSS button. If we click on this, it will be a custom RSS feed for your search, exact search that we just built here. So what we're going to do is click on this RSS Feed button and I am using Firefox here and you should see what the RSS feed would look like. Now, all you have to do is either copy the URL and add to your favorite RSS Reader or the Firefox, we can do this right here. So I am going to add to my Google right now. So I am going to click on Subscribe now, I have Google chosen here, I will click on Subscribe Now and then I will add to Google Reader and here I am in Google Reader and as you can see, this RSS feed is now being right here. So if I click on my all items each day, I can read the newest and greatest material about Nintendo Wii exclusively from digg.com. Now how easy was that.
