Every week, Mike McGrath slays slugs, defeats deer, whacks weeds, mispronounces Latin words, and saves gardens as the host of the nationally syndicated public radio show "You Bet Your Garden". YBYG is an hour of chemical-free horticultural hijinks that takes a breezy, light-hearted, and sometimes (OK - frequently) manic approach to the topic of gardening: www.youbetyourgarden.org.

Mike was editor-in-chief of Organic Gardening magazine from 1991 through 1997. The one time Marvel Comics editor is the author of several books, including Kitchen Garden A to Z (Abrams; 2004) and You Bet Your Tomatoes (Rodale; 2002). He is also the Garden Editor for WTOP News Radio in Washington, D.C., and his "You Bet Your Garden" column appears in every issue of Greenprints ("The Weeder's Digest"). Mike was the garden expert for the Saturday edition of The Today Show from 1993 through 1997, and chaired major exhibits that won four consecutive "Best of Show" awards at the prestigious Philadelphia Flower Show.

Mike has also appeared on Nova, Good Morning America, CBS This Morning, PBS Healthweek, CNN, FOX, and as a regular contributor on the weekly PBS series Your Organic Garden and The Discovery Channel's Home Matters.

Mike lives in the boonies of Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, with his family, organic garden, and an inconsistent number of rescued cats. He plays pinball, enjoys baseball, grows way too many tomatoes, and will not eat lima beans, no matter how much you pay him.
