Here are a few steps that will help make sure you buy the right frog for you!
Buying a frog or toad may not be something that is done every day, but what if the occasion did occur? There are a few steps that can be followed that will help make sure that the right frog is bought.
Step 1:

Step one of buying frogs and toads may be the most important of all the steps. Before buying any frog or toad, research should occur that will ensure that the frog or toad is of the species that best suites the needs of the person buying it. There are many different species of frogs and toads and their habitats and needs vary greatly. This includes feeding the frog or toad and their diet can vary from worms to live mice. Different species of frogs and toads also require different habitats to survive. What may be the perfect frog or toad for one person may not be the perfect one for the next person simply because of what it eats or what habitat it requires.

Step 2:

Step two is finding a place to purchase or get the perfect frog or toad. Most people will think that the perfect place to find a frog or toad is a pet store or pet shop. This is a good place, especially if it is one that has amphibians and reptiles regularly, as they will be more apt to care for them correctly. Also, a gardening club may be helpful if there is no pet store or pet shop in the area with frogs or toads for sale. Gardening clubs often have members with ponds and these members may be willing to share the toads and frogs that they have. This is really a good place to get toads or frogs that are native to an area.

Step 3:

Step three is to actually choose the individual frog or toad to buy at the pet store or the pet shop. When choosing the perfect frog or toad to buy look for the one that appears to be the healthiest. Look for the frog or toad that is not real skinny or real small. Small frogs and toads are not as easy to raise as ones that are larger. Also choose one that has clear skin, that is alert and is not so easy to catch when the net is put into the tank with it. Buying the healthiest frog or toad is very important. Don't forget to ask about a health guarantee as some retailers do furnish them and one may be needed if things don't work out so well. Remember though, that it will take a few weeks for the frog or toad to acclimate to its new environment.

Frogs or toads may be just what your outdoor pond habitat needs. If this is the case, just be sure that you are introducing frogs or toads that are native to the area. This is important because of the decreasing populations of these interesting creatures and the havoc on their populations should other species of frogs and toads be introduced that will eat the native ones or that carry diseases.
