House fleas are very nasty and harmful to your family, but here are some simple ways for how to kill them for good.
- The first thing that you have to do is treat your house and pet for fleas the same day. You never want to just treat the pets, because there could be fleas in your carpet, on the couch or in other random places. Fleas can be anywhere in the house so to be safe always treating every room no matter if the pet was there or not. You also want to treat your clothing too. Wash them thoroughly.
- Vacuuming is a great way to rid your house of fleas. You want to vacuum thoroughly through the whole house. This includes vacuuming under beds, and on top of all the furniture, such as beds, couches, and chairs. A vacuum only does half of the work that you are seeking and now it's time to spray.
- Spray down everything in the house when you are finished vacuuming. Spraying is another most important thing to do in your home. When you spray you don't have to go crazy with it; just spray a little here and there to know that you are getting the proper treatment, especially if your pets go in and out your door everyday. Use some flea protection spray, but also use patio sprays and things of that nature. I say patio sprays for the simple fact that you will need to spray outside your house. Fleas come in from outside so they can be lurking around your door. After you're done spraying you can use a flea bomber if you would like. They are recommended, because you can kill a lot of fleas that way.
- Washing the pet bedding is very important. You want to wash all pet bedding and pet dishes. The reason for this is simple: They track fleas in and when they lay on their bedding the fleas jump off onto the beds or wherever they lay. Now to clean the bedding properly you can spray it first to make sure you get all the fleas off and then scrub them down. I would not put it in the washer with other clothing at all. This can result in a harmful situation. If you wish to wash by washing machine throw the bedding in alone. After you wash the bedding let the sun dry it, but if you choose you can dry it with the drying machine.
- Your pets need proper flea control collars and shampoo. One brand is Halo Herbal shampoo and spray. This brand is very good and care free. Another brand is Adams Water-based flea mist. Your pets should wear a flea collar everyday all day and get a bath at least once or twice a day. You can bathe cats as well. Bathing the animals with flea control shampoo is a great way to rid fleas, especially in the home area. Sometimes using shampoos can cost you a lot of money, but if you use them right your home will be free of fleas.
