Female: Coach Kendra is an expert nutritionist and a professional personal trainer and she is here to help you get the body you want. Getting started with exercises can be tough, but Coach Kendra has some great ideas to get you off the couch and into better shape.
Coach Kendra: So, let us get started. It is easier than you think. Slow and steady wins the race when you are trying to get to the exercise habit. I want you to keep it simple and begin by focusing on just one simple exercise. I am going to show you different exercises to choose from. Pick the one you like best and commit to doing it two or three times in the next week. At the end of the week, you can reward yourself for your hard work by choosing another simple exercise to add to your routine.
During the second week, do both of your exercises three times. Do them one after the other so that you will only need to set aside three times during the week. At the end of the second week, add a third exercise and do all three exercises in a short session. Maintain a frequency of three exercise sessions a week, adding more exercises when you feel comfortable doing so.
Now, I am going to show you some simple exercises so that you can get started.

Female: I have demonstrated this exercise lying down, but it can also be done standing up. Put your hands on your stomach between your hip bones, start to tuck your tailbone under and pull in your lower belly. Contract and release several times. Not only as this a great core toner, it also works wonders for your posture.

Female: Sitting up straight, squeeze your butt muscles so that you can feel your body rise, keep contracting and releasing until you start to feel the burn. This is an exercise you can do anywhere, on the bus, in the car waiting for the stoplight or while watching TV.

Female: If there is one exercise you do, this would be it. Take your hands behind your head with your elbows out. Draw your opposite knee in to meet your elbow. Switch from side to side making sure you are really twisting your torso. Not only are these great core builders, they also work wonders on those spare tires.

Female: Walking or running in place at a moderate pace is a great way to get your heart going and move you into fat burning land. For a more advanced version, lift your arms our in front of your chest as you lift your knees.
Coach Kendra: I like to tell my clients to write down their weekly goals and put them up where they can see them like on their bathroom mirror. It is a good idea to provide yourself with a constant reminder of you have accomplished so far and will help keep you motivated. Beginning an exercise program is a great first step towards living a healthier life. With careful planning and commitment, you can do it.
