Male1: Hi, everyone welcome to BFX. This week we have been sponsored by Sweeney Todd. We are going to build a diabolical barbers chair. [Music Playing] Male1: I am a big Tim Burton fan. So, I was super excited to be challenged to recreate the barber’s chair prop from Sweeney Todd. But just because we are working with a big studio, it does not mean we are going to use a big budget. Gary, spin the wheel. [Music Playing] Male1: Now, if you see any of the trailers for the movie, you know that Sweeney has a trick barber’s chair. Basically, after he have axed someone, the back drops down, the whole thing swivels back, and the dead body can slide through a trap door in the floor. The first thing we are going to need do is find the right chair to modify and if you have not seen the trailer yet, her it comes. [Sweeney Todd movie trailer] Male1: Here we are at the Cheer Store. [Music Playing] Male1: A little different, but it is go the same kind of dark gothic look about it. And it has some structural features that we really want. [Music Playing] Male1: We are here on our second stop; junk store in Brooklyn will be found probably, the perfect chair. [Music Playing] Male1: We also found this big giant sheet that we can use to re-upholster the barber’s chair. [Music Playing] Male1: Our chair already leans back. Now we just need to mod it to go back to the rest of the way. And of course, you need to change this chairs looks completely. The first thing we do is strip it down, then cut the back support off. This is going to allow us to attach two custom hinges made from bolts and metal repair strips and just like that, our chair can now recline all the back. We are going to paint the frame and re-upholster the cushions. Adding the red material was not much more than just wrapping it up and stapling it along the backside. If you really want to get fancy hammering some of these decorative upholstery nails. The final modification was to add some 2x4 blocks to the base. This causes the chair to sit up higher and also, swing back further. The grand total for a Sweeney Todd chair was $37.00. [Music Playing] Male1: What do I know about Sweeney Todd? I know he is the derange killer, he is a barber, and he is my brother. [Music Playing] Male1: Yes. Me and Sweeney both became barbers, we took after dad. He was barber and so with his brother. I mean, the worst thing is I am a really, good barber. I would been rolling in the dough, who was not for my family stigma and done. Female1: I think, that this is the best hair cut that I have ever had, but did your brother not kill all those people. Male1: No. Female1: Yeah, I think he the next time I will just go to super cuts. Male1: Sweeney! I graduated valedictorian of my Barber College. You do not hear about that? Sweeney kills a couple of people and he is in the front page of every paper. There is the occasional customer that makes me want to act like my brother , and done. What do you think, son? Male2: This is the best haircut in my entire life, I love it. Male1: Well, you know, when people really like their haircut, we appreciate it if they are- Male2: You want me to give you a tip? Male1: Yes, and you said, you really liked it. I say a lot of things, I mean, best hair cut, I am yelling I can have a lot of haircuts from now. I do not really want to make like [voice overlap]. [Sound effects] Male2: Why are you looking at me like that? Male1: No reason. Male2: All right, Cool, see you. Thanks.
