Allen Smith: Hi I’m Allen Smith expert gardener and garden designer. Chuck Leavell: And I’m Chuck Leavell tree farmer and keyboard player with the Rolling Stones and we have one question for you. Both: Are you ready for our steal. Chuck Leavell: Allen we have a question from Ryan in New Hampshire who asked “When is the best time to prune an apple trees?” Allen Smith: Well Chuck I know you have an apple that’s matured and I’ve got one that’s really pretty young. We’ve planted about 65 apple trees and 18 of them are heritage varieties, I’m very excited about it. But the answer to answer to Ryan’s question I tried to get my apples pruned by valentines day, mid February and at the same time I applied dormant oil on them and I found using the steal blower with the spray attachment is a fantastic way to get them soak down after you’ve prune them with dormant oil. And they really come through the spring beautifully that way. Chuck Leavell: Excellent.
