How To Convert to Christianity

Converting from one religion (or no religion at all) to another is a personal, spiritual decision. Choosing to become a Christian is a matter of faith. Faith in the God of the Bible and in Jesus Christ. If you have come to a point where you want to choose Christianity, here is what to do.

First of all, realize that becoming a Christian is not simply about joining a church. Christianity is a personal faith and a relationship with God, not a membership.

Realize that God loves you. However, you are separated from God because no matter how good of a person you are, you still do wrong things. God calls this sin, and it separates you from him (Romans 3:23).
How To Select Music for a Christian Funeral Service

Church soloists, choirs and instrumentalists are often asked to perform for grieving families and friends during Christian funeral services. This can be a challenging and somber task, especially if there is an emotional connection to the deceased. It often falls on the performers to select sacred and even secular music appropriate to the occasion, although family members may provide some guidance or suggestions. Funeral services have a natural ebb and flow, with moments of silence, solemnity and levity when appropriate. The music should incorporate all aspects of the service, from the spiritual to the commemorative.

How To Understand Who Wrote the Books of the Bible

The Bible is the Word of God. Christians believe that God inspired human beings to write the words that God wanted to be included in each of the books. So even though God is the author of the Bible, humans did the writing. So who did God choose to do such an important job and who wrote which books?

Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Number and Deuteronomy - The first five books of the Bible were written by Moses. Moses was an Israelite who was raised as Egyptian royalty. His story is well known by people of all faiths.

Joshua - Joshua was written by Joshua, an aide to Moses who eventually took over leadership of the Israelites from Moses.

Judges - The authorship of some of the books of the Bible is unclear. It is thought that perhaps Samuel, a judge, wrote Judges.

Ruth - The author of this love story is unknown.
How To Find Bible Passages the Easy Way

There are literally 31,101 verses in the Holy Bible. With such a quantity, it seems impossible to be able to remember all of them. Yet, there have been some rather great people throughout history who have been able to memorize it in its entirety. Although, they were under extreme circumstances and most incidences come with divine assistance.

For instance, Dietrich Bonhoeffer was a German minister who lived until 1945 when he was executed along with Jews. It is reported by survivors of the Nazi execution camps that Dietrich read the Holy Bible, while he indeed had no Bible. It is said that while he was locked in solitude, he could see it in front of him and he used it to minister to the Jews even up to his death. By the way, it was him who said, “When Christ bids you come, He bids you come and die.”

How To Choose Between Contemporary and Traditional Church Services

Declining membership has remained an issue for many mainstream Christian denominations. In an effort to attract and retain younger members, a number of churches have begun to offer separate contemporary services, or at least blend some contemporary elements into their traditional services. Some have even considered eliminating traditional services altogether in favor of the more dynamic and youth-oriented contemporary worship style. The results of these conversions or adaptations, however, have been decidedly mixed, with some parishioners seeking out more traditional services elsewhere. Younger members of older congregations have also migrated towards churches and worship centers with an emphasis on contemporary services. Before joining a church, it is important to understand the differences between traditional and contemporary services and which version best addresses your specific needs and lifestyle.

As Christians, it is very important for us to find a good church. However, there are so churches around today that it can be hard to make a decision. So, how do you go about finding a good church for you and your family? Here are some things that you should do whenever you are looking for church to join.

Before you do anything else you should take some time to pray. Take time to seek the Lord's directions. After all, the Bible does teach us: "In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." (Proverbs 3:6)
