There are many benefits that come from learning how to meditate - from improved health and peace of mind to greater connection to your spiritual Source. Being more connected to your Source can have many benefits for your life. Clearing your mind can help you solve problems by allowing space for guidance from you Higher Self to come through. Many people think that you need to spend years under the tutelage of an eastern guru or that you need to master some painful yoga position to meditate successfully.
Here are some techniques that are quite simple and painless which, if applied for twenty minutes a day, will bring immediate results
- The main objective in meditation is to still the mind. The mistake that many people make here is to try to forcibly suppress their thoughts. if you struggle with your mind in this way, you will only end up feeling frustrated and your mind will win out every time. Instead, allow your thoughts to flow and just observe them. Alternately focus your mind on something else such as your breathing.
- Another highly effective technique is to focus your mind on the spaces between your thoughts. An effective technique for this is to go through a phrase such as the first line of the Lord's Prayer. Concentrate and visualize the first word for a minute or so and then the next word. Then move your mind back to the space between these two words and just focus on the empty space there. Go through the entire phrase in this way.
- You may wish to add an additional dimension to your meditations by chanting a sound such as 'Ahhh' or 'Ohm,' while you are in the spaces between your thoughts. Entering the silence is essential to our Spiritual connection. As it is often said; God always answers our prayers but the question is, are we listening? By stilling your mind with these easy to use techniques for only twenty minutes a day, you will see inspiration and guidance begin to flow into your life.
As Dr. Wayne Dyer has said; "It was in-Spirit that our purpose was laid out, and it's in-Spirit where our magnificence is absolute and irrefutable.”
