Remember God´s Holy Standards for Mankind
First, you must remember them as they were set by God's revelation to Moses:
- You shall have no other gods before me; you shall not make for yourself an idol.
- You shall not make wrongful use of the name of your God.
- Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy.
- Honor your Father and Mother.
- You shall not murder.
- You shall not commit adultery.
- You shall not steal.
- You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
- You shall not covet your neighbor's house.
- You shall not covet your neighbor's wife.
Now, take a look at what Jesus told us:
- "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind."
- "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."
"On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets." - Matthew 22:40
These words quoted by Jesus appear in the Old Testament - in Deuteronomy 6:5 and Leviticus 19:18, respectively. This is the essence to remember forever the Commandments of God. If you follow the law of Jesus, you will automatically follow the others. The secret is to love - love God, love yourself, love the others, love the world, to forgive all and resist all evil.
Jesus once told that He came to write the law not in stone, but in the hearts and minds of people. You may not murder, but you can still hate someone. You may not steal, but you can still envy someone for something. You may not blaspheme with your mouth, but you can do it in your heart. You are breaking the law in the same way.
The Ten Commandments are a very important path leading to a life filled with justice and peace. It is the law of God - remember them, and be blessed among men and women. More importantly, keep these in your heart; don't practice them by force of law.
May God bless you!
"But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith Jehovah: I will put my law in their inward parts, and in their heart will I write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people" - Jeremiah 31:33
