How To Build a Rodeo Arena

Though many towns have arenas where calf ropers, barrel racers or cutters can practice, they can be expensive. It also takes time to drive to and from the arena so many people build their own. Building your own rodeo arena will take some time and effort. Following are the necessary steps on how to build a rodeo arena:

Find an area on your property that is relatively flat. You will need to allocate an area of about 150 feet by 240 feet, which are the dimensions of the standard rodeo arena. If you need more room allow for more space. If you have any obstructions in the selected area like brush or trees, you will need to remove them.

Next, study the soil. The ground will need to drain properly when it rains. Better drainage will allow for a more solid ground. This will make it sturdier for riding your horse around in it. If you determine that the ground needs to be drained, hire a professional to do it.
