A warm, sunny afternoon filled with little more than chores like mowing the lawn is not what most people would consider recreation.  By finding an activity that is fun for the whole family and entertaining for people of all ages, those warm days turn into fond memories.  Buying badminton nets would be an outstanding solution.

Finding what you need at an affordable price is not as difficult as some might think.  Many retailers provide badminton sets that include all the items that you need for a fairly low price.  Items usually include the net, stakes and ropes that hold it tight, rackets, birdies, and rules.  I recommend that you also purchase some string and spray paint so that you can mark off boundary lines on the grass.

Once you've found the appropriate set that fits your needs, you may also consider purchasing a few extra birdies, as these tend to tear easily.  The more games you play, the more wear and tear these birdies will endure.  The net will withstand many games, since it really doesn't see any contact or abuse.  The rackets may see some wear on the handle area but can be easily repaired with some athletic tape or hand grip replacement wrap.  Again, depending on the amount of time spent playing, the equipment will last many years, providing your friends and family hours and hours of inexpensive entertainment and friendly competition.

If playing games and tournaments, consider painting lines on the ground to ensure that everyone can easily distinguish the boundaries of the badminton court.  These lines provide not just a physical boundary for the game at hand, they also play a role in preventing any disagreements between teams and players as to whether or not a play is counted as a point or not.  The rules, regulations, and court dimensions are all listed in the rules included in the badminton set.  I encourage the host to thoroughly review the rules and use a tape measure and string to paint straight and even lines on the court.

Taking advantage of the outdoors and the beautiful warm weather can be healthy in more ways than one. Soak up some vitamin D, mingle with friends and family, get some great exercise, work as part of a team, teach someone something new, and have fun! Once your court is fully assembled all you need is the players, the music, and don't forget the camera! Enjoy.
