It can be very difficult to keep yourself up to date on all the important news going on around the world, especially when events don't occur in your backyard. The sports world is no different; for the majority of people living outside of Europe, following soccer news can be a trying ordeal. American media outlets are not keen to put soccer news, sports, and stats on their front pages, nor are they willing to lead off the news with it. So where is a soccer fan to find up to date news and scores?

The best media outlets to use are television and the internet. Both outlets offer a good deal of options to keep you in the know on the latest happenings in soccer, but one does have a discernible advantage over the other.

These days a great number of people have big screen TVs and HD connections and are certain they can't live without seeing all the best highlights from their favorite teams in stunning HiDef. For the soccer fan desperate for news and info on his favorite squad, however, this is not always an option. ESPN is slowly getting a foot in the door in Europe to televise games, both abroad and in the US, but they are not the most reliable outlet. Fox Soccer Channel provides the best quality and highest number of programs to keep a soccer fan up-to-date. In addition to airing Barclay's Premier League matches from England, they also air Italian Serie A matches and Argentine League matches. Each day you can find the latest stats, scores, and info simply by catching their broadcast of Sky Sports News, but this is limited to English Premier League action. On the weekend, Fox Soccer Report does a good job of bringing highlights, stats, and score lines from action across Europe's pre-eminent leagues.

The internet, however, is the far and away the best place to find the most up-to-date news and information on your favorite soccer teams and leagues. Yahoo Sports has a section devoted to soccer, but is narrow in scope. The majority of their coverage is devoted to the Barclay's Premier League and international play. They do, however, provide scores and standings from Spain, Germany, and Italy as well. The two most important websites for any soccer fan are ESPN Soccernet and MSN.Foxsports.com. Both of these sites provide a variety of coverage from England, Spain, Germany, Italy, France, and Scotland.

If you can live without highlights and commentary on TV, you won't be disappointed by the accuracy and timeliness of the soccer news provided on the above websites and several others across the World Wide Web.
