The Cleveland Cavaliers have lived a very troubled and pained existence in their years in the National Basketball Association. While the team was able to get to the deep end of the NBA Playoffs for a couple of years back in the eighties and early nineties, it was just unfortunate that an athlete who went by the name of Michael Jordan chose to torment them every chance he got. Yes, the six foot, six inch guard from across the state border to Illinois has buried dagger after dagger in the hearts of Cavaliers fans everywhere to the point that fans chose to cheer for other teams, like the Blue Devils of the NCAA instead.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are now enjoying a bit of renaissance. Even if no one other than Dan Gilbert cared about this team in the past, today a Cavs ticket is one of the most sought after passes in the league. While the league’s most intense and arguably best player of all time was responsible for sending the Cavaliers franchise to the pits, it’s ironic that Cleveland is now back on track to the top with the power of the league’s most popular players – LeBron James.

LeBron has made it cool to wear the Cavaliers’ colors once again. Dan Gilbert was so excited to draft the phenomenal athlete from Akron (a local suburb near Cleveland) that he even commissioned the design of new logos and jerseys for the high school stand out. The NBA fully embraces the traditions of the past so LeBron and company have also worn old school uniforms during NBA retro nights. This has made people crave for Cavaliers memorabilia that wouldn’t have even been on anyone’s wish list in the past.

Here are a few ways through which you can get Cavaliers memorabilia.

  1. The Cavaliers schedule is one of the most cherished memorabilia. This would usually indicate updates on the game, and game descriptions for the entire season. These also double as the season primers since these are published during the start of the season. If certain key trades happen during the stretch of the season, these schedule books can end up being very valuable in the re-sale market.
  2. Believe it or not, there many die-hard Cavaliers fans who have endured the nasty reputation and the heartbreaking run that the franchise had. They have held on to caps, shirts, vintage jerseys and other memorabilia that have something to do with being a Cavalier. While most of them will never even think about giving up their collection, there are still some online who will be more than willing to sell you some of their loot for a good price. They would often have auctions for the premium items.
  3. Buy new items. LeBron is just beginning to carve out his legacy in the NBA and you never know how good he can potentially be. If he ends up being the best ever, he may just put more value into whatever you get now.

Owning memorabilia is just one way of showing how much of a diehard fan you are. If being a Cav is in your heart, then you’ll be sure to find meaning in just about anything related to the game; which you can acquire, keep and preserve through the years.

As a budding investor, I recently learned how important it is to read up on buying gold right now.  And if you have owned it for a while, now is the time to also learn strategies for selling gold
