The Ironman competition is one of the steeliest of physical feats in human history. It involves three events, known as a triathlon, usually involving running, cycling and swimming. In this particular competition, one can truly go the distance, literally and figuratively.
Small wonder if you are among those throngs of individuals interested in joining this very prestigious event. But before you invite your friends to perch on treadmills and get your calories and muscles working, you need to learn a few more things that will make you ironman competition worthy.
The treadmill is just one among the many things that you can use to be able to join the ironman competition. It is not just in iron man comics or iron man DVD that you will see triathlon results. In the competition, you will find that the Kona race will have you motivated to train faster than Timex watches.
- Join an athletic club. An athletic club will give you mostly the connections that you cannot have on your own efforts. They will also be very much updated in the various events and you can find the different aspects of athletic training that you can harness so that you can be fit and fabulous enough for the iron man competition. The athletic club will also provide a corporate dimension that you will not otherwise achieve if you are training individually.
- Shape up through well-balanced and rigorous workout. This is the main technique: focus on endurance then on speed. The speed is much easier to catch up to, but if you do not have the endurance to show up for it, then you will have a hard time following through in the long distance events of the iron man competition.
- Make use of proper diet. The proper diet will help you get to your goals. What you eat is really what you are. Eat a lot of carbohydrates a day before training. You will need to monitor your calories, your weight and your workout simultaneously. While this may seem very taxing at the beginning, your body will eventually thank you for it.
- Get the right rest. If you are not able to balance the right rest with your workout, you will burn out and be unable or incapable of going the distance. Respect your body’s rhythms, and it will be able to do you a lot more. On some days, it is much better to just rest than really drive your body’s capabilities to the edge.
- Rope up with other people of the same goal. Of course, there will be days that you will find yourself demotivated. Nothing kills training than a day of being lax or unable to go through with your fixed schedule. Having a buddy who will help you keep to your goals will keep you from falling into this all familiar rut that many a singular training athlete has fallen in to.
The Ironman competition is tough, but it is one of the best accomplishments you can have physically and it is truly worth training for it.
