Currently it is known as Valero Alamo Bowl. Due to the different sponsorships marks were changed in the logo as the years went on.
Some most remembered moments are as follows:
- In 1995 The Cats won the Alamo bowl title from the more popular USC ending in a 41-32 score.
- 1996, Iowa Hawkeyes were all seen wearing black helmets due to the death of linebacker Mark Mitchell’s mother.
- In the year 2002 the game went into overtime, the first time that this has happened in the Alamo Bowl. The score ended at 31-28 with Colorado winning the game.
- In 2005 Missouri won over Navy in a 21-14 score after losing seven game bowls. It was the best year for the team.
- The 2007 game broke all past years' records by Penn State winning at 24-17.
The Valero Alamo Bowl will happen in January 2010. If you want to catch this game, tickets are being sold now almost everywhere.
