Although digital point and shoot cameras are generally designed so end-users do not need to understand photographic techniques, even the most sophisticated cameras do not take perfect pictures every time. Photos that are washed out, too bright, or have blown-out areas are suffering from overexposure. Keeping a few simple tricks in mind can help you to avoid this common photographic problem.

How To Learn Studio Lighting Basics

For any amateur photographer, setting foot on a photo shoot set is both exhilarating and terrifying. To have models, stick thin and looking glamorous, posing around. To have assistants upon assistants flying past your face with camera backs and cords and coffee. To even come up close with the head photographer and watch them work and birth beauty right before your eyes, all of this is something else. Yet, by far and probably the most intimidating is the enormous and never-ending display of lights, cords, backdrops, and so on. The lighting of a photograph is by far the most crucial element. It can make or break your pictures, your relationship with the clients, even your career. So how does one begin on learning the system of tungsten and every studio lighting trick in the book? By diving headfirst and listening with your eyes.

After the tragic death of his son, Clyde Butcher has found his solace in the greenery of Florida’s Big Cypress National Preserve where he and his family grew closer to nature. A self-taught photographer, Clyde Butcher has received several civilian decorations from the state of Florida for advocating Florida’s natural beauty through his unique approach to landscape photography.

What makes Clyde’s photography special is his unique approach to nature as he tries to elaborate his subjects on 8”x10”, 11”x14”, and 12”x20” camera viewpoints on black and white. His artistry is deep-rooted to his high regard for the preservation of the ecosystem while advocating the true beauty of nature.

Almost everything these days has been collected. One of the most popular collectible items, however, is the photograph. Capturing everything from the first time that your daughter said ‘Mommy’ or ‘Dog,’ to when the graduation cap was flying high in the air on the day that she got her diploma, the photograph is an essential memento that many people keep to remember their most cherished moments, friends, and achievements. One of the problems with photographs, however, is album storage. Here are the best and safest methods of album storage.

How To Take a Square Photo with Strong Composition Elements

Visual poetry, no other title could be more appropriate for the art of photography. Just as there is no wrong way to write a poem, there is no wrong way to take a photograph. However, just as truly excellent poetry follows some pattern of rhyme, rhythm, or meter, so does truly excellent photography have structures of its own.

The most simple structure or element used in composing a basic square photo is the rule of thirds. Visualize the image divided, both vertically and horizontally, into thirds. Rather than placing the subject in the center of the frame, set it in one or two thirds of the frame. Related to this is the concept of dominant thirds. Dominant thirds requires that the photographer decide whether the subject or background should take the most space in the image and allow that element two thirds of the available space. This offsets the audience’s natural focus and creates a more visually intriguing photograph.

How To Do Photo Restoration

Photographs are reminders for us of people, events, objects and stories that have been captured in the camera. Most of your grandparents and even mothers have piles and piles of photo albums stocked in a house cabinet or their room. Sadly, when you open and check, you can see fading pictures. This is because during the good old days, the camera was not digital. The photographs were saved on film, which in turn was printed as soon as possible. To help you restore these pictures through photo restoration, please see the following.

How To Learn About Fine Art Photography

Are you interested in venturing into the scene of fine art photography? Although modern photography is a relatively young art form, its reputation as high fine art is still accepted today. However, as in any other art form like music and fine art painting, photography is not as simple as it looks and requires a certain amount of skill, experience, a good eye and sheer talent to tell a bad photograph from a phenomenal one. Consequently, capturing a picture-perfect photograph is something that must be learned. Start taking your own artistic pictures with these simple guidelines on learning this art.

How To Use Slide Film

Slide film is a special type of film used in photography that creates an image on a sheet called a transparency. The image it produces on the transparent sheet is in full color. Slide film is commonly known as reversal film. It is mostly used for image projection with the use of a device called a slide projector. Its main purpose is to allow an image to be seen in a large venue. Slide films may come in roll films, sheet films and the most common 35mm single slides.

Slide films are also used in print media. This is because it produces a higher image resolution than exposure films and color films. It is also used as motion picture film due to the better images it produces compared to negatives film. One of the types of slide films was introduced by Eastman Kodak Company and was called Kodachrome film. It comes in 16mm for movie films and 35mm for photo cameras. Kodachrome uses a special type of slide processing wherein the color dyes are only added after processing.

How To Crop a Square Photo

Even in the digital age, photographers never really know how the image will turn out until they first see the picture in traditional or digital form. The square photo looks almost great. Perhaps, in your final portrait of Grandma, Uncle Larry managed to sneak into the side of the frame and do an obscene gesture right before the shutter snapped. Cropping a square photo, in this case, means that you will keep in Grandma and cut out Uncle Larry.

You could physically cut Uncle Larry out of Grandma's portrait, but you never know when this photo could be used to blackmail Uncle Larry in the future. So, your goal in cropping this particular square photo is to get rid of Uncle Larry without physically destroying the photograph.

How To Take a Food Picture for Your Restaurant

When you say restaurant food, the first things that naturally come to mind are mouth-watering smell and its delectable taste. Unfortunately, these two things cannot be captured even with the most advanced camera. However, you do know how important photographs are for your restaurant. You want everybody to see what you can offer and how you can satisfy their discriminating appetites but you cannot let everyone smell or taste your fares just to convince them. The camera has to do that part in ways so that the viewer can still find himself salivating just by looking at the restaurant's food picture.

Taking pictures of restaurant food can be more complicated than taking a traditional picture of waiters in uniform. The guys can smile and pose well in front of the camera but food does not. You have to bring out the artist in you so you can arrange the food in such a manner that would appear good in the photo. Here's how to take a photo of food for your restaurant.

How To Pose for a Face Picture

For most people, taking a good picture means being able to look slim in the photograph. There are many different ways to do this with a half or full-body picture; however, what do you do when your face is the only thing that’s in the frame? A face picture sounds intimidating to some people, mostly because there’s not much you can do to make sure that you can take a good close-up, right? Wrong! There are several ways that you can greatly improve a face image, even without the use of face software to modify the image (although this can be a great tool too, especially to improve how your complexion looks in a photo).

Here are several tips on how to look good for a makeup picture, or even just a plain old close-up picture:

Keeping pictures of people you care about so much or of joyous events you would want to remember throughout the rest of your life can be a little troublesome. The elements of nature and the unavoidable wear and tear provide difficulties in making the photographs as vivid as they were when they were just printed. The older the photos become, the harder they are to maintain. However, you just cannot let them fade just as you cannot allow your wonderful memories lose color in the face of present day realities. You should get the get the help of a photo restoration service.

How To Make a Double Exposure
