How To Eat with Your Hands in India

In a country like India, eating with hands is quite a traditional and an ongoing practice, despite the onslaught of western culture and etiquettes.

Eating with hands is the most natural, hassle-free and convenient practice. By using your hand, you are able to feel the temperature and texture of the food; you are in a position to mix different food items well; For people with chewing problems (like lack of teeth), crushing and mashing the food items and mixing well with fluids to make a homogenous paste for easy eating is conveniently done with the hand.

Here are some guidelines on how to eat with your hands.

How To Travel in French Polynesia

French Polynesia is one of the South Pacific's most exciting - and expensive - destinations. Fortunately, visitors are able to set their own budget while touring the islands, from a $15 campsite on the beach at Moorea to a $1,500 suite at a deluxe resort on Bora Bora. Travel can be by fast and frequent commuter plane or by slow and smelly copra boat. Food varies from a fresh buttered baguette with a cafe au lait at Papeete market to French haute cuisine in an upscale gourmet restaurant. There's something for everyone.

How To See More of Las Vegas than Just Casinos

Las Vegas is a city full of opportunities. While it is mainly known for the lavish casinos that are the "gamblers' paradise," there is so much more to the city and the famous "Strip." About 25 years ago, the Las Vegas casinos decided to offer more amenities to non-gamblers and families in order to increase their clientèle. To do this, Las Vegas casinos added numerous attractions that range from classical to technological marvels.

While some of these attractions are offered for a reasonable fee, others are totally free. Here are some of the places that you can visit in Las Vegas without losing your shirt in a casino.

How To See the Grand Canyon

The Grand Canyon is one of the most spectacular natural geological formations in the world. Words like stunning and breathtaking don't even begin to describe the view from the rim or the experience of cascading through the Canyon in a wooden boat or inflatable kayak. Describing a trip to the Grand Canyon could never do it justice, which is why it's on most people's "must-see-before-I-die" lists. Or if it's not, it should be.

But getting to the Grand Canyon is just the beginning. You'll have to decide how you want to experience this gorgeous, awe-inspiring landscape. Your trip will no doubt depend on the number of days you're planning to spend in the vicinity. If you need help deciding how long you should stay and what you should do while you're there, you can read up on your Grand Canyon viewing options below.

How To Visit the Martin Luther King National Memorial

The Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial, planned to open in 2008, will honor the life and work of the civil rights leader. The Memorial will be located adjacent to the FDR Monument on the National Mall in Washington D.C.

Plan a trip to Washington D.C. for 2008 or later. The groundbreaking for the Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial was held in November of 2006. The Memorial, designed by the ROMA design group from San Francisco, combines a chiseled stone monument with landscaped trees and reflections from the adjacent Tidal Basin. The site sits between the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials.

The MLK Jr. National Memorial is anticipated to open in 2008. It will be administered by the National Park Service and be free to visitors. The National Mall is also home to a number of the museums of the Smithsonian Institute as well as the US Capital Building and the Washington Monument.

How To Enjoy a Trip to Atlanta

The rich history of Atlanta, Georgia is just one of the reasons why Atlanta is a popular tourist spot. While the city is not very old compared to many other historic cities, a multitude of famous events occurred between the incorporation of the city of Atlanta in 1847 and the present.

Historically, the Atlanta area was once the home to the Creek and Cherokee Native American territories. This pre-dates the incorporation of the city. In the early 1800's these tribes ceded their land in exchange for land the government owned out west. By 1835, the town was well on its way to becoming a railway center. This is why Atlanta became populated in the first place.

How To Celebrate New Year's in Las Vegas

What better place to ring in 2007 than in one of the country's greatest places to party? Everything in Las Vegas-from the casinos to the shows and the nightclubs to the scene on the Strip-is turned up a notch on December 31. Here are some tips on how to best celebrate New Year's in Las Vegas.

Book your hotel sooner rather than later, and be prepared to spend a bundle. Vegas hotels jack up their prices for this holiday, and many have three-night minimums. You'll pay less if you stay far from the Strip; even downtown hotel rates are cheaper. But if you're going to Vegas for New Year's, it's likely you want to be where all the action is, in the heart of the Strip-Las Vegas Avenue, home to the mega-resorts and theme hotels.

How To Plan Hawaii Family Trips

With its white-sand beaches, lush mountain vegetation, mystical history and cheerful "aloha spirit," Hawaii is undoubtedly a magical place. Plus, there's so much to do on the islands: surfing, snorkeling, hiking, flying in a helicopter, touring vineyards, experiencing an authentic luau-or simply building sandcastles on the beach.

The 50th state has long been a popular honeymoon destination, but the Hawaiian Islands are incredibly appealing to families, too. It might be a long haul from the mainland, and it's certainly not an inexpensive vacation option, but think of the amazing experiences you and your family can share on these marvelous tropical islands.

If you're planning a family trip to Hawaii, consider these tips:

How To Find Gold Coast Accommodations

Australia's Gold Coast is a popular destination for word-class beaches, located not too far south of Brisbane on the east coast of the continent. Surfers love the beaches of the Gold Coast, some of which are Australia's most celebrated. Not only are Gold Coast beaches spectacular, but they're also safe; shark protection at Gold Coast beaches is astonishingly effective, with not one deadly shark attack occurring in the last 40 years at any protected beach. How did James Cook resist the temptation to settle here permanently? Good question! Perhaps he couldn't swim. And they weren't shark-protected beaches back then either, of course... But history isn't the focus today (luckily). Today is all about Gold Coast accommodations, from hostel to top-notch hotel.

How To Vacation in the Smoky Mountains

"They don't call 'em the Smoky Mountains because they're smoky, Brian," my dad insisted. He was talking about the weather down in the Smoky Mountains and wanted to emphasize (as only a parent could) the need to bring proper rain gear.

He was right, it can rain down there. As much as 85 inches in a year. In honor of dear ol' dad, then, let's delay any talk of recreation, accommodation and all that exciting stuff, and instead take a look at one of the most practical topics of this article immediately: weather.

How To Plan Disneyland Vacations

Many times Walt Disney World takes precedence over all the other Disney theme parks, including Disneyland. Most people don't realize that Disneyland was actually the first park that Disney opened when he decided to fulfill his dream. Opened in 1955, Disneyland almost went bankrupt when a heat wave destroyed the appeal during the opening months. Within 10 years, though, Disneyland had more than 50 million visitors.

The Parks: Disneyland is much smaller than Walt Disney World. It is only made up of two parks: Disneyland Park and Disneyland California Adventure Park. California Adventure Park celebrates everything about the Golden State from the piers to the lights; many of the new rides are located in this park.

How To Plan a Dollywood Theme Park Vacation

While most people first think of Six Flags, Disneyland and other theme parks, country music lovers and Smoky Mountain vacationers are drawn to Dollywood. Dolly Parton's theme park is in the heart of the Smoky Mountains, and it has something for everyone. There are fun rides, shows and special events for the whole family every week. If you're planning on visiting Dollywood, here are a few tips to make your planning a little easier and less expensive.

The best part about Dollywood is that it is truly kid-friendly. There are baby areas throughout the park, and any restaurant in the park will warm a bottle for you. The park even requests that visitors dress appropriately and avoid clothing with offensive images so that the park remains hospitable to families.

How To Find Hiking and Backpacking Trips in Northern California

Northern California, as John Muir discovered over a century ago, is a nature enthusiast's dream. With the Sierra Nevada range in the east, the Cascades on the Oregon border, the great coastal redwood groves, and of course, Yosemite, there are countless opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Before you take off to tackle Half Dome or Morro Rock, however, take some time to properly plan out your trip. Where do you want to go? What do you want to do? While the California State Park system has hiking trails for nearly every level of physical fitness, backpacking is a much more demanding activity--although if you're up for it, it can be quite an adventure.

How To Book Maui Bike Tours

While all the Hawaiian islands are lovely, Maui is especially lush. Its Haleakala National Park is home to Mount Haleakala, a 10,000-foot-tall volcano, which is the top destination for many bike tours on the island. However, that isn't the only place on Maui to cycle. With a little research and planning, you could find yourself biking along the coast, through rainforests, and even to the local winery. Any path you choose, a bike tour can be an amazing way to explore the natural beauty of Maui.
