How To Start Your Own Homeschool Group

The education of children within the home setting, or homeschooling, is becoming increasingly more popular. When my husband and I made the decision to home-school our children back in 1993, there were probably only one tenth the number of homeschooling families. In fact when I was hospitalized with the birth of our fourth child, the nurses kept peeking into my room, saying that they had to see what a home-schooling mom looked like.

When we decided to home-school, we also felt we needed a support network. We weren't so much looking for like-minded people as much as we wanted healthy group dynamics for our children to explore social relationships and for myself to receive and later provide some mentoring and companionship. If you wish to begin a homeschooling community, there are some basic considerations and steps to take.

How To Study SAT Vocabulary

Learning new vocabulary is one of the best ways to raise your score on the SAT. Vocabulary is the number one skill that's tested in the sentence completion portion of the Critical Reading test, and it helps students to understand the passage-based reading sections. A strong vocabulary will also help students express their thoughts more clearly on the essay part of the test.

When you're preparing for the SAT, improve your vocabulary by following these tips:

How To Choose an LSAT Study Guide

If you're scheduled to take the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) anytime soon, you may want to give some thought to selecting and purchasing a study guide to aid you in preparations. While a study guide isn't entirely necessary, it can add value to your prep time. If you're struggling with one particular type of LSAT question, study guides can give you a basic approach to master that section on the test. And finally, a study guide can help you tailor your strategy for the test and improve efficiency. But with all the various titles on the market, how do you know which one to select? Which study guide is best for you? Take this list to the bookstore:

Choose three to five guides from the shelves. Don't over-think it - you'll be looking at all contenders eventually - but merely take the first five titles on the shelf. If there are only three titles available, put them all back and pick another store with more variety!

How To Study for the LSAT

The Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) is a multiple choice standardized test that most law schools (all ABA-approved schools, and many non-accredited ones as well) require in considering applications. Administered by the Law School Admission Council, the test is generally offered on various dates each year.

The key to mastering the LSAT is to realize what the LSAT measures - not intelligence, or aptitude for the law, but a standardized measure of reading and analytical skills. Here are the steps you should take to prepare for this test:
