How To Keep Children Safe with Sparklers

Sparklers are a mesmerizing part of an Independence Day celebration, and other special occasions. For a child, sparklers are the first firework that child is allowed to hold in their hands. Keeping children safe while using sparklers requires safety actions from you and your child.

Sparkler safety starts with you. Sparklers, like all fireworks must never be used without adult supervision. Without adult supervision, accidents do happen, and can turn a happy memory to one of tears and pain.

Set up a safe area for your child to light sparklers. Provide a bucket of water in which to immediately drop sparklers when the fire goes out. Because sparklers are manufactured with metal, the metal and sparkler material will remain hot and create a potential for burning your child. Make sure your child has adequate clothing, especially shoes to protect feet in the event a hot sparkler is dropped accidentally.

How To Choose a Catering Business

Be it an intimate dinner for two or a wedding for 1000 people… people want to find a catering business which fits their requirements. With today’s busy schedules, most households have both spouses working and there is no time to organize and prepare for a party. This is where a catering business comes in handy.

The range of catering businesses you can choose from is staggering! There are the very large catering companies which offer halls to hold receptions or parties. They manage the entire event, from decorating to professional serving staff to an efficient cleaning crew at the end of the day. Other catering businesses prepare the food on their own premises, pack it and send it across to a different location. Smaller catering businesses tend to service smaller requirements - providing hot lunches to the workplace or to children at their schools. Outdoor caterers ensure they offer tents along with tables and chairs as a part of their service.

How To Prepare for Chinese New Year

The Chinese New Year is the most important celebration of the year; it takes a lot of planning, and the Chinese people prepare for it all year long. The celebration will last for 15 days. During this time, most businesses will close down and the transportation systems will become flooded with people trying to make it home for this very special celebration.

The New Year is a time when Chinese people reunite with one another and send wishes of good health and great prosperity. They will also perform old traditions and rituals. Food is the main attraction at the Chinese New Year; if you plan to attend any Chinese New Year celebrations, I suggest you prepare some of the classic dishes or organize a tea-tasting party.

How To Learn What Makes a Firework Whistle

Fireworks are always a treat for those within viewing site of the magnificent and mystical display they produce. Technicians work hard to create all kinds of units, from small ground spinners and fountains to large displays with shell burst patterns and hummers. One particular type of firework that will hold the crowd’s attention is a whistler. Small whistles can be placed in petite fountains, shells, and rockets whereas it takes a much more complex method to make a larger firework whistle.

How To Find Chinese New Year Symbols

The traditional Chinese calendar assigns a symbol to represent each year. The Chinese New Year symbols correspond to dates on a lunar calendar rather than those on a Gregorian calendar, although most calendars show the Chinese New Year symbols for both types. But how can one find the Chinese New Year symbols and the years to which they correspond?

The simplest way in how to find Chinese New Year symbols is by using the internet. By typing "Chinese New Year symbols" into your search engine of choice, you will find a plethora of websites with information on the Chinese New Year symbols. This way, you may find the actual symbols, their meanings, and the symbol corresponding to the current year. You can also, for example, discover which symbol corresponds to your birth year, to the year in which you were married, or to any other important date in your life.

How To Learn the History of New Year’s Resolutions

Did you know that losing weight, getting out of debt and earning more money are among the top New Year's Resolutions made annually? Whether or not you have kept your New Year's Resolution this year or even remembered what it was, know that you are participating in a tradition that is thousands of years old.

New Year's Resolutions date back to the Babylonian civilization some 4,000 years ago. The Babylonian calendar started on March 23rd with the arrival of spring and the planting of new crops, accompanied by the custom of returning something to a friend that had been borrowed from them in the previous year.

How To Find Common New Year's Resolutions

With the New Year approaching, our mind turns to new resolutions for the up coming year. Many people have high hopes for more money, better relationships, new jobs and a healthier life.

If you are seeking a New Year's resolution, turn to your peers. At this time everyone is making resolutions from last year or creating new ones.

Each person's resolution will differ from the next. The most common ones are to lose weight, quit smoking, find a better job and to make more money. Some people start right away after their celebrations end or on January first as it is the beginning of the New Year. This is one reason why you will see introductory gym membership's decrease, smoking cessation programs start up and people searching for more fulfilling jobs.

How To Celebrate Chinese New Year

The annual Chinese New Year celebration begins on the first new moon of the calendar year and extends for 15 days until the full moon. This is a time for reunification with family, thanksgiving for all that we have, celebration of a new beginning, and a time to honor those who have come before us. Since the Chinese New Year is a two-week event, there is no set day to celebrate the festival. However, certain days are designated for certain celebration purposes. These days are set by the Chinese calendar, which takes into account the lunar cycle.

How To Buy Cheap Fireworks

Fireworks were originally used in China to frighten evil spirits away with their sound. Today, virtually every country enjoys the use of fireworks for national holidays and special events. You will find fireworks displays in your neighborhood, at the park, at the ball game, on Christmas Day, New Year's Day, Independence Day and even on your neighbor's wedding day. Fireworks make every celebration more fun and flashy. Everyone enjoys it, and kids and adults love it. While fireworks displays are wonderful to behold, their prices are not. They can be very expensive depending on the type you want. Although, you can still find cheap prices if you know where to look for them.

How To Make Healthy (and Successful) New Year’s Resolutions

Every year towards the end of December, most people find themselves listing down resolutions that they vow to accomplish for the New Year. Sadly however, they often find themselves unable to sustain whatever steps they have started. Usually, they are good for the first couple of weeks but the enthusiasm easily dies down and soon, they are back to zero.

One of the most common things included in one’s list of resolutions is to have healthy change in lifestyle. Not to be missed from these healthy resolutions are promises or resolves such as: to quit smoking, to lose weight, to shape up, to eat more healthy foods and to exercise regularly. At first glance, it all looks enticing and promising. But as to how long a person can hold on to these adjustments remains to be one big question.

How To Keep Your New Year's Resolutions

Sure, we can all keep our New Year's resolutions for the first couple of days! The tricky part comes when the novelty wears off. When the resolutions start to feel way too ambitious, how can we continue to stick with them?

How To Set New Year's Resolutions for Yourself and Your Business

New Years has always been a time of celebration and good luck. Different cultures celebrate New Years in their own ways, but almost everyone seems happy, full of hope and enthusiastic about the New Year and thus renews their vows and commitments for a good fortune.

A New Year's resolution is also a commitment that many individuals and/or organizations/business units make on New Year's Eve to bring positive changes and improvements within themselves or their businesses.

Did you know that almost 80% of resolutions fail as early as mid January the next year, and the percentage of failed/abandoned resolutions reaches 95% at around April? Why? Many things come into play: commitment, psychology, stress, fear of a change, the goals set are simply not realistic, people do not feel as equally motivated/energetic throughout the year as they may feel in the very beginning...you name it, people can find a reason not to follow through with their resolutions.

How To Not Be Embarrassed by Your Relatives During the Holidays

With the holiday fast approaching, it is also time for the relatives to show up and ask their litany of embarrassing questions. Everyone knows what I am talking about. I have a huge Italian family. They walk in the door with big hellos, kisses on the cheeks, and then it is time to sit down to what is supposed to be a nice family holiday dinner.

As we sit down to eat, you can hear the laughter from the other end of the block. When everyone starts stuffing his or her face, it becomes a little less noisy. That is when someone in the family starts asking all of the kids (that range between 20 and 35 in the family) personal questions that we just don’t want to be talking about in front of the whole family.

Instead of answering him or her with a cocky remark, I have come up with some humorous answers to take the spotlight off of you and put it back on the person who has the guts to ask you such personal things.

How To Outdo Others in the Competitive Art of Gift-Giving this Holiday Season

Yes, this season is about giving…in theory. But why not be the best gift-giver you can possibly be? More importantly, why not shamelessly and effortlessly defeat your competition?

THE CAST

The GIFT GIVER: Played by none other than YOU

The GIFTEE (otherwise known as the Gift Receiver): Lover, person you want to be your lover, co-worker, family member, fiancé, husband, wife, person you know is going to get you a gift and you will feel like crap if you don’t give him one

The GIFTROBBERS (people who want to outdo you in the gift-giving process.): These people may include jealous family members, wannabe lovers of the GIFTEE, passive aggressive relatives, a person who likes to throw money around to hide his glaring flaws, etc.
