How To Pack as Little as Possible

Tried of lugging hundreds of pounds of luggage? Too much stuff can ruin a trip, from holding up buses or airport security, even requiring hotel staff, friendly passers-by or anyone around to help lug your stuff from here to there.

Rid yourself of excessive stuff, and revel in the freedom and ease of traveling unburdened!

Pack normally. Go ahead, just cram in everything you think you might want to take with you.

Unpack and spread everything out. Now that you can see everything you wanted to bring, we can begin to prune.

What are you actually going to wear? Honestly, pick out the few, best clothes and items, the ones you know for certain you enjoy wearing, and will often. Set them aside for the moment.

How To Buy Luggage

Many travelers make do with assorted odds and ends of luggage such as totes, duffels and the like. However, those who travel frequently, especially flyers, will want to use sturdy, good-quality luggage. So how does the savvy traveler go about choosing luggage?

Assess the need. What kind of luggage do you need? How often do you travel? How long are you generally away? Those who are away mostly on weekend trips will probably be fine with a standard-sized case or a duffel and a tote. For longer times away from home, a traveler may want a larger case to check on an airplane, a tote and a carry-on. Those who fly will certainly want to consider roll-along luggage for treks across large airports. If a traveler usually drives, a duffel or tote will probably suffice. Travelers who carry several pieces may want to be certain smaller pieces of their luggage will "stack" on to the larger ones, for ease of transport.

How To Choose Carry On Luggage

Most air travelers will need some kind of carry-on luggage when they fly. What should a traveler look for when buying carry-on luggage? Where is it available? What can he expect to pay for a carry-on bag?

A traveler needs to first acquaint himself with the airline's carry-on size regulations. Most U.S. airlines' specifications are fairly standard, but some are more lenient about allowing bulkier items in the cabin. A great deal depends on the kind of aircraft. Some have more overhead or under-seat storage than others, and a traveler needs to think about this when considering carry-on luggage.

How To Find TSA Luggage Locks

In the aftermath of Sept. 11, 2001, the U.S. government has instituted new regulations for luggage on airlines. One of these includes the TSA-approved lock. The Transportation and Security Administration requires that locks on luggage be TSA-approved, or they may be cut off if a TSA official needs to visually inspect the contents of a suitcase. Where are these locks available? How much are they?

TSA-approved luggage locks are made by various companies, but must bear either the Safe Skies torch and flame logo, or the Travel Sentry red diamond. These logos alert security personnel that they can safely open the luggage lock without having to cut it off. All TSA-approved locks have a mechanism that any TSA official at any U.S. airport can open if necessary.

How To Buy Travel Accessories

Planning for a vacation can be quite stressful as there is always a long checklist of things that need to be done. One important task is deciding what you need to bring along with you on the trip. Below are some guidelines of how to choose what accessories you may need and where to purchase them.

How to decide what to buy? Of course this depends on the length of the trip and how much space you have in your suitcase. Some essentials I have found to be necessary regardless of trip length and location are the travel alarm clock, money belt, quick drying towel, and plug adapter along with voltage converter.
