Europe is a major travel destination. Among European cities, Paris is one of the favorites, a major destination even for Europeans themselves. It is one of the most expensive cities in the world and also one of the most visited. Among travelers, the young could be more apt in finding a more affordable accommodation. Finding a cheap hostel lodging there could be a challenge. But it could be easier than you think. Follow these suggestions:

  1. Plan your travel. Planning is a must-do in every activity, especially for travel abroad. The planning process should be thorough and unhurried. Here, budget, time, places, itinerary and emergency contingencies should be considered. Decide how much you want or are willing to spend. Or, how much you can spend.  Choose the dates when you want to travel to Paris. Choosing non-peak seasons would be helpful to your budget. Settle on how long you want to stay and where you want to go. Hostel lodgings are good for longer stays. They can be treated like ordinary apartments for lease.
  2. Ask your travel agent. A good travel agent would have a list of cheap hostel lodgings in Paris. They would have numbers that you could call for more information. Plus, they would know the type of hostel they are referring. Most likely, they have already established good relations with some good hostels. Ask them to ask for a discount for you.
  3. Choose an affordable location. Paris has a number of major tourist attractions and locations. Naturally, hostel rates around the Eiffel Tower, Louvre Museum, Notre Dame Cathedral, Avenue des Champs-Elysees, Musee d'Orsay, Sacre Coeur, Arc de Triomphe, Centre Georges Pompidou, Rodin Museum, Picasso Museum, and other attractions would be high. A hostel outside the area of major destinations would be cheaper. Choosing a place far from the expensive streets would pose no problem in going to places, since the public transportation system in Paris is good.
  4. Ask family and friends. It would also help to ask friends and family who had been to Paris. Asking students would also help a lot. A student in Paris would know how to find affordable hostel lodgings. Many student lodges in Paris would accept a short-term lease. For sure, you will get a cheap rate for a decent place to stay. These students would also know other hostels that would be friendly on the budget.
  5. Check the Internet. This seems to be the easiest tool, but you cannot totally rely on it. Personal knowledge from those who know would be better. Through the Internet, you can check the price and ratings of those who have been to the hostels. Check their comments. It would help a lot to know if water is running and if they have hot water available. No one would want to freeze bathing!

Check hotels around Rue Chapon, Rue Taylor, Rue de Turbigo. Although there are a lot of other areas with cheap hostel lodgings in Paris, affordable accommodation would not be difficult to find in these spots. Be careful in choosing, however, since your lodging could spell the difference between a blast and busted travel.
