Okay, so you are finally able to take that cruise you have been dreaming about.  You have your destination in mind, and you are ready to get away from the rat race that is your life.  So the next step is finding the cruise line that can provide the memorable, fun-filled, and, above all, safe trip that you have been fantasizing about, and that fits your budget - one that you will enjoy revisiting in your mind for years to come.

Before you even begin to research cruise lines,  there are many decisions to be made concerning what you want to experience on your cruise. Depending upon your destination and ports of call, what shore excursions do you find appealing?  What sights do you want to see?  How much time will you need in order to get the most from your excursions?  You do not want to have saved for years for this trip and then not have the opportunity to get your money's worth.

Once these decisions have been made, how do you go about finding just the right cruise line, with little time to invest in the search? One possibility is to go upon the recommendation of friends, if you know people who have enough cruising experience to be knowledgeable.  Even so, keep in mind that your tastes may not be the same as that of your friends, no matter how close you may be.  Personal preferences are just that - personal - and varied.

Most probably, the best tool for researching cruise lines and the one which will provide a vast amount of pertinent information about all reputable cruise lines is the internet.  You can sit in the comfort of your home or on a break at work and learn all you will need to know.  In this day of technology, if a cruise line doesn't have a website, you probably wouldn't want to travel with them anyway.

Be sure to check the rating of each cruise line.  Check for the amenities offered by each. Print off the relevant information, for easy comparison of features. Be sure to consider upon what level of the ship your room might be located, as you compare packages.  Does the thought of bunking in a room on a lower level bother you?  Lower levels are sometimes cheaper.  Are you looking for a cruise with glitz and glam, or just a clean, safe trip on the ocean?

When shopping for a cruise line, have a list of expectations in mind ahead of time, factoring in the amount of money you can spend.  Then, simply narrow your search down to a cruise line that provides all the things you are looking for, at a cost you can afford.  Happy cruising!
