Thinking of kids' activities can be quite a challenge, especially on vacation. If you don't have a plan for them, the little tykes will start to run around and cause all sorts of trouble. It is really important to come up with ways to keep children occupied as well as to engage them in such a way that the parents can also join in on the fun.

  • The City Aquarium - Most children around the ages of four to seven are really eager to work with their hands. They experience their world with sight and touch, so it's really going to be interesting for them if they get to see new things. The city aquarium is a good place to take your children because there are all sorts of things to see and activities to be a part of. These aquarium complexes have huge water tanks that contain many different kinds of fish and other forms of marine life. These establishments also encourage children to have a more responsible outlook about taking care of the environment so it's definitely a win-win situation. With the current problems of the world, it's never too early to make environmentalists out of your children.
  • Art Classes - There are plenty of art workshops and art schools for little tykes that train them to use paint, crayons, clay and other media to create really inspiring works of art. Or, if you don't have time, you can buy your own materials and let the kids draw in the hotel room or during a car ride. This also improves their coordination with their hands as well as their visual skills. Kids' art will definitely be posted on any refrigerator door! You can even teach your kids yourself if you know a thing or two about art.
  • Crissy Field Beach - You can take your kids to the beach for a day and while you relax in the sun, you kids can build sand castles and play in the tide pools when the tide is out.
  • Golden Gate Bridge - You can take your kids to the Golden Gate Bridge to take photos and if you're daring enough, bike or walk across the bridge.
  • Local search - Kids’ websites can also be a great source of possible activities in the area. Writers and contributors to these sites are usually from the same part of town so they are very familiar with what really is going on in a particular area. Sites like citysearch.com and iBegin.com can give you the most interesting places to visit in any area, and the San Francisco Bay Area is just one of the many places where you can look for activities online. Most pages on these directories also have a contact detail page to help you get in touch with business establishments. They should be more than willing and happy to answer your queries and allay your concerns regarding your children.
