The Australia Zoo, known as the “Home of the Crocodile Hunter”, offers numerous exhibits that have been created to be captivating, informative, and exhilarating to every visiting guest.  These exhibits are not only exciting for visitors, but they were also designed to be immensely plush, roomy, and invigorating for all of the animals.

The Australia Zoo's exhibits have been called works of art; they have been compared to five-star accommodations; they’ve even been considered marvels of architecture – all of which makes the Australia Zoo like no other zoo in Australia or even the world.  All of the exhibits were designed or at least conceived of by Steve Irwin.  One of the top exhibits developed by Steve Irwin is The Crocoseum, which is a place where visitors can see the crocodiles in clear water ponds.  This gives guests a more vivid picture of how these fascinating creatures behave.  The Tiger Temple was built to look like the Angkor Wat temple in Cambodia, and offers underwater viewing of cheetahs and tigers.  Elephantasia is an Asian-themed exhibit and is the largest exhibit of its sort in Australia.  The Elephantasia exhibit provides a pool, fountain, a giant statue of the Hindu elephant god Ganesh, gardens, shade, and toys for the elephants.

The Australia Zoo offers two itineraries for your day:  Slithery Day Out and Furry Day Out.  Slithery Day Out focuses on the elephants, crocodiles, snakes, echidnas, otters, and tortoises; the Furry Day Out itinerary focuses on the koalas, elephants, crocodiles, possums, wombats, dingoes, and otters.  You may even take a guided tour.

There are even shows to see!  Kids’ Story Time, Otters Live, and Tortoise Live are all offered at 10:00 a.m., Elephants Live is offered at 10:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors is at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., Feral Fox and Camels Live is shown at 12:30 p.m., Koalas Live and Otters Live can be seen at 1:00 p.m., and Birds of Prey Live and Otters Live are both at 3:30 p.m.

When visiting the Australia Zoo, you should bring (depending on the weather) a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, rain poncho, water, snacks or food, a camera, comfortable clothes and shoes, a watch, and cash.  You may not bring domestic animals, alcohol, or food to feed the animals (but you can hand-feed the animals using food purchased at the zoo).  The zoo is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Admission prices range from $177.00 Australian dollars for a family of five to $32.00 Australian dollars for children.  Individual adult tickets cost $54.00 Australian dollars.

There is plenty to see at the Australia Zoo.  A day there will be one you will never forget.
