How To Make Chocolate Spritz Cookies


  • 1 cup (or 2 sticks) unsalted butter (softened)
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa
  • ¼ tsp salt


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

  2. In a mixing bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  3. Add egg and vanilla. Beat until well mixed.

  4. In another bowl, sift flour, cocoa and salt together.

  5. Pour dry mixture into the mixing bowl and continue mixing until dough forms.

  6. Fill cookie press with dough, and fit the press with desired disk.

  7. Press dough out onto ungreased cookie sheets leaving them 1" apart.

  8. Bake one sheet at a time for about 10 minutes or until just set.
