Jerry is very interested in life after 50 as this is a period where the children have left home or will soon be leaving home and many of us have aging parents that we worry about. The adult children are beginning to have children of their own which makes us grandparents and we have the opportunity to be mentors and role models for them. We have health issues as we wake up one day and find that our bodies cannot do what they did when we were 18 for various reasons but mostly because we have developed conditions over they years such as arthritis, diabetes, high cholesterol and a myriad of other conditions. We also have more time to travel and we now have the freedom to do more traveling as we generally have more than 2 weeks vacation time per year or we may be semi-retired. We are looking for new places and adventures and how to find them. Jerry lives in Fargo, North Dakota and has recently changed jobs from a full-time traveling position with a healthcare consulting company to working for a health system in Fargo. While being glad to be off of the road and "having" to travel every week, he still likes to go places when he chooses to rather than having to. He has been married for 33 years and he and his wife, Dale, have a grown daughter, Erin and a grown son, Michael. They have a 4 year old grandson, Gabriel.
To be of service to those over 50 as it is a difficult but welcome time as we switch to empty nesters and the main reason for conversation, our kids, have left home. How do we reconnect with each other as we remember why we came together so many years ago.
