Nancy McLendon has been teaching for over twenty-three years in public schools. She has a Master's Degree in Education from the University of South Alabama and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Teaching of Reading from Auburn University. She teaches English and reading in a community college in Alabama and writes in her spare time. Her first publication, "Sylvia's Story," was published by Mercer University Press in Macon, Georgia. This story is the true account of a young black woman convicted of murder by an all-white male jury in 1911. At the eleventh hour, Sylvia was saved from the hangman's noose by her young attorney. A second story, "Huggin' Molly," was presented at the national convention of the Popular Culture Association in Boston in April 2006.

Dr. McLendon's goal is to psss on her love for reading and writing to her students and to others with whom she comes in contact. Writing and reading are skills, she states, and with guided practice, we can all improve.
